The second best producer of all time(behind Quik). Appreciate it.

no he issnt

He's definitely not the second best producer, but as a Cypress Hill fan (mainly because of B-Real), I gotta say he's definitely one of the best. I prefer Stoupe, Dre, Timbaland,... though.
-
I wouldn't say he was the second best producer ever, but he is certainly underrated as anything. So many classic beats with Cypress Hill, "How I Could Just Kill A Man", "Insane in the Brain", etc.
The funniest thing is every weekend millions of people across the world are probably in a nightclub dancing to House of Pain - Jump Around, and I bet almost none of them know who DJ Muggs is, despite the fact that he produced that track.
-
Muggs is the inspiration behind the whole Wu sound. Alchemist. Sick Jacken. DJ Khalil. He inspired the genre of Trip Hop. He's produced countless albums with nothing but non-stop heaters. That album he did with Tricky and Dame Grease was on some next level shit, same with Dust. He's so versatile and consistent, that's why I say he's the second best ever.

I'm curious SGV - who would you say is the best ???

The second best producer of all time(behind Quik).

^LOL. Thanks.

LOL, my bad man! ;D
My top 5 producers at the moment in no particular order:
*Dr. Dre (favourite beats: anything from Death Row era)
*DJ Premier (favourite beats: DJ Premier in Deep Concentration, Boom, Anything with Gang Starr)
*Alchemist (favourite beats: I'm the King, Hey You, Mobb Deep stuff)
*Kanye West (favourite beats: Get By remix, nearly all his stuff for Jigga, solo instrumentals)
*Meech Wells (favourite beats: Don't Fight the Feelin, Suited N' Booted, most of his Snoop tracks)
Those producers constantly bring good beats, with Meech being the most under-rated of 'em all although not necessarily the best. However, my lists like this change all the time and there are a bunch of other producers I'm feeling...

good post. In my opinion Dj Muggs is one of the best producers in the game. He's on the same level or better than the other ALL the other great producers. Put is this way, NO-ONE is BETTER than Muggs, others (Dre, Timbo. Rza, Primo, Quik, Daz etc) may be AS good, but no-one is better.
-
Muggs is way doper than dj quik
muggs isnt the second greatest of all time tho, but hes top 10 without a fucking doubt!
i havent heard the shit he did with tricky tho, i def wanne check it out tho
-
yeah goldeneyeoutlaw, you're post reminded me of a couple more of my favourite producers, RZA and Daz respectively.
I also forgot my man Warren G in my list, so he would be in there somwhere...
-
LOL, typical SGV-post.
-
Sorry Jome. There's nothing "typical" about this thread. Muggs is a name I rarely bring up and is rarely brought up here.
-
DJ Muggs second to Quik
Hey lets just forget Premier, Dre, Timbaland, Neptunes & whoever the fuck else i forgot smart idea
Anyway yep Muggs is dope, wouldnt say he is 2nd best, but probably at least in the top 20 rap producers of all time

Yup. I feel the same way, except Quik is just better than him. And I wouldn't put Daz in the list.
-
he's good, I like him, especially cypress hill's first 2 albums, but no way would I consider him 2nd best.
-
Muggs is second to RZA

I think it's a sly way to start "SGV presents: Dr.Dre isn't the best producer, nor the 2nd, 3rd or 4th neither, pt.53".. :P
I KNOW you want it!
-
Muggs is dope but I don't know too much of his work since I am not the biggest Cypress Hill fan, but I know his mixtapes and work with Ice Cube. SGV can you suggest some of his best tracks?

It's my say of saying Muggs is the second best producer ever. Who the fuck cares about Dre in a Muggs thread? I don't.

Just listen to both of their productions and you will definitely see the major influence that Muggs has had on RZA's work. Plus, its not by pure concidence that the only outside producer to ever produce a track on a proper Cypress Hill album is the RZA, cause Muggs saw him as the next generation of his own style.

impossible, Rza debuted (as Prince Rakeem) the sam year cypress hill did with his Rza's own productionstyle, wich is based on samples from old kung fu movies, mosrly
Rza influenced others tho

You're one of the few to say no. But, whatever.

"Muggs' gritty soundscapes have influenced everyone from The RZA to Tricky,"
http://www.theonionavclub.com/review.php?review_id=3898
Muggs, legendary in the hip-hop world as the beatmaker/producer for L.A.'s groundbreaking hip-hop trio Cypress Hill, whose noir-ish soundscapes paved the way for everything from Wu-Tang's RZA to the UK based "trip hop" movement,

Speaking of Dame.. I think he's underrated too..
I haven't heard any wack beats by him.
Nas' God Love Us is one of my favourite beats.
-
^^Check that album, if you got an open mind. It's pretty good.
-
Yeah, I will, if I can find it..
What's it called?
-
Juxtapose
-
Okay thanks, looking for songs of it now.
