His verse from "The Anthem 7" with Dirty Birdy, Sly Boogy, Planet Asia, Ahmad and Ras Kass
Crooked I is a cannibal, a mechanical animal/That'll dismantle ya mandible wit' a manual "How To Make Raps Flammable"/The King, so hand him a crown/I'll push you off a building and write a whole song before you land on the ground/By the time ya body splatter, ya lungs, heart, liver, spleen, kidney, pancreas, rectum, and urinary blatter scatter/I'm outta ya reach, Hollow Man never seen on the streets/The Holla Man from Eastside Long Beach/Was made to smash and bang/You know what happened to the last rapper we captured who was after cash and fame/Tech electricuted half his brain, drove his ass insane/While Sway choked him out wit' his own Platinum chain/Revolution hit him wit' turntables and cracked his frame/Carmalita laughed as he grabbed his abs in pain/See, nothin' about these hoggs is cute/We got more stripes than Daryl McDaniels' joggin' suits/Stompin' like I got steel toes/Keep glocks wit' shots that dive at you at top speed like jocks tryna block field goals/Take a speech from a lyricist/And throw his voice in another room like a Vantrilaquist/Listen to this, when I'm checkin' my intellect and baffle Alex Trabek/And I can answer the million dollar question in less than a second/I step in wit' weapons, that's destined to spit lead through ya flesh and exit intestines/Meet death just for flexin', wait a second/Who do you love?/This show was so raw, the FCC is keep the studio bugged/Just in case I say shit, damn, fuck, bitch, hoe in a freestyle flow, I LOVE THE WAKE UP SHOW!
There's not one thing wrong with this verse. Metaphors, word play, story telling, multi's, amazing flow. Not to mention, it outshined greats like Ahmad, Ras Kass and Planet Asia, as well as young guns like Sly Boogy and Dirty Birdy.
His verse from "Underground Tactics" with Rock & Ruck(Heltah Skeltah) & Planet Asia
You probably heard me on 'The Anthem'/Throwin a tantrum, now the phantom's/Kidnappin platinum rappers for ransom, murder em at random/Hand em they cranium on a platter/Then scatter, splatter your bladder/Niggas got to add up the data, they scatter/When I brings the whoo-ra, I'm in this game to stay/You couldn't put me out if your name was neutron/My receital's prime to climb, homicidal rhymes unwind/My rival's minds and time, they vital signs decline/Your title's mine, resign, leave you blind/Cuz every line's designed to shine/And I'm, all about the lyrical skills advancing/Tech drops the beat, I starts the verbally break-dancin/Cuz first I do my foot-work then I break it down to my knees/And now I'm spinnin around on my back, ???/Better stop and freeze, please/You MC's ain't never wanna bout/You need to make like a cecerious-section and cut it out/I'm pure devotion, dosin/The psychological field have chosen, to analyze my notions/But most men, catch emotion, sickness cuz my intelligence quotient/Goes deep as the Mediterranean o-cean/and Sway in the concrete jungle bringin comotion/Our blood might be boilin but our attitude is frozen/See me pass up a chance to rip shop, naw/That'll be worse than Kool Herc sayin 'Fuck hip-hop ya'll'/That'll never happen/I'll be bustin even after half the major labels start/Financially backin this rappin/Rhymin's my first love, she's been wit me from the start/I exchange vowels wit my styles, now it's till death do us part
Everything was on point here. From flow to rhyme structure to wordplay. Crooked I wrecked shop on that track. He made Heltah Skeltah and Planet Asia seem like nothing.

If he gets down with Bolo, believe we will. I'm crossing my fingers. Sway & Tech bring out the best in Crooked I. Nothing has ever brought the beast out him like a Tech or Rev beat.

Me too.
Doggy: That's still my reaction 4-some years later.

I dunno, I still like crook best over the smooth g-funk beats, especially LT Hutton beats. Of course he still is dope with sway and tech, my favorite crooked I songs are:
Uh Oh
ride wit a g
murderous MC's
and all his appearances on 19th street playaz.

murderous MC's
Another track that I should've put up here.

very true... all the crook stuff most ppl like is pre-row, or not with row artists. :/
but.. lyricists dont sell :/ .. so while he'll get his props, he wont get the quintuple plat everyone expects
-
Sorry for gettin off topic, but where the fuck can I find some Ahmad tracks. I keep getting some Middle East shit on Kazaa.

What about Nas? Eminem?
Either way, I don't care if Icon sells 9 Mil or 9, he's still one of the best emcees out. Records sales don't make the rapper.

It's hard to find any Ahmad tracks online, unless you have his album. I'm sure it's out of print. But, you can easily find some 4th Avenue Jones shit. That's Ahmads Hip Hop Band.

Just wondering... what exactly is "rhyme structure" and "wordplay" to say Crook has the "2 hottest verses ever in Hip-Hop ever" is humorous but untrue, no matter how you may feel, but I'm willing to bet that you haven't heard every single record ever recorded and Crook is dope, but to shit on every other MC by saying what he wrote, is better well......just do your history on Hip-Hop. Some may mistake you for one of these kids who claim Tupac/Big were the greatest MC's, when they weren't, they just happened to join the ranks of MC's before, during, and after their demise. 8)

canibus.. ras kass.. etc etc you prob wanna put sly boogy in there
mc's of a certain calibre are too advanced for the pop charts
if they dumb down too much, they're selling out

Isn't that the Ahmad that sang "Back In The Day"? .Ahmad from "The Anthem #7" is the same as Ahmad from "Back In The Day"? I always thought they were different people.

LOL. Homeboy, I gave proof, I just didn't say "Crooked I is better than all emcees," I said he has two of the hottest verses ever in Hip Hop. Not shitting on ANYONE. I've heard a lot, been bumping Hip Hop since the late 80s, I'm not just some cat who's hopping on a bandwagon.

Ok, my thing again is what makes it the hottest? What is he truly saying that is different from what any MC has ever said? Honestly, Crook is hot, I have songs...better yet and album and half's worth of tracks that the general and internet public has never heard as of now. I myself am I fan of Crook, but again what he spit was dope, but to pigeon hole him in that category, I can tell you, he himself would feel differently. And again what is YOUR definition of "rhyme structure" and "wordplay" in reference to him having the hottest verses in HIP-HOP EVER? It's easy to make a claim, but to make such a brash statement is harder to back up, like now ;D ;D ;D ;D

I sure hope that doesn't happen with Crook or Sly. I lost a grip of respect for 50 cuz of that shit. Even Em has been toning his shit down lately. I guess they figure they already makin' the paper, so why try anymore.
Anyways, the verse from the Anthem 7 is one of my faves all-time. First time I heard it about a year or so ago I was blown the fuck away. I don't think the other verse is all that though. I maybe I needta actually hear it in audio?

^yup, u gotta realize crook was on these tracks wit some of the illest mc's out there so u know he didn't want 2 be outshined... sway n tech definitley bring out the best in him... i really hope he sighns and drops an lp on Bolo cuz i know it'll be fuckin' sick... death row was never the right place for crooked... i thought so @ one point but he really didn't impress me much @ all at death row... his hottest shit was on the wake up show...

In bold is what I think is good great rhyme structure. In italics is what I consider dope wordplay. Now, my definition? To me, rhyme structure is where you put your rhymes in your bars. Be it at the beginning, middle, end or all three. As for wordplay, my definition of word play is flipping a word over and over. "destined to spit lead through ya flesh and exit intestines." To me that's dope word play. Again, those are MY definitions.
That's why I believe those are two of the hottest verses ever spit in Hip Hop. This is my opinion, so whether Crooked I, Suge Knight, Dr. Dre's Uncle, Various bum down the street, etc. don't believe the same, so be it.

Crook should have kept the name "Untouchable"
