Alright, this has been bugging me for 10 years. Well, 8 or so.
In Erykah Badu's first song, "On and On", she says
"I was born underwater, with three dollars and six dimes...
Yeah, you may laugh... because you did not do your math"
WHAT IN THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN? Everytime I hear the song, I try to figure it out, I have yet to get even a clue about it. I heard it yesterday and remembered to post on here about it, finally.
-
3 dollars and 6 dimes.. is 360 degrees.. maybe on some five percent shit
not sure about the underwater part
-
Well, I get the 360 thing. She was born underwater 360, none of that makes any sense to me...
-
maybe it's to do with reincarnation.
-
maybe the water means the water in her mothers womb?
-
when the baby is in it's last moth in the womb it's supposed to flip so its head is upside down, but that only makes 180 degrees.. and as for the water thing... maybe her mother had her in a ship. how should i know?
-
you better thank me for this. You can stop your 8-10 year streak of having this song lyric bug you.
"Everybody asks me what does 'three dollars and six dimes', I talk about in my song mean? The answer is very simple", she says. "In cents, that sum is equal to 360. Just like the 360 degrees of the circumference, of the astrological birth theme and of the totality of human existence.
360 sense.
