Title: Attention all computer heads
Post by: Sikotic™ on February 08, 2004, 06:13:34 PM
Yo, my retarded lil bro started deleting mad shit in that Windows folder. Now whenever I turn the computer on, it says that Windows has stopped and himem.sys is missing. So I'm like aight, open it up on MS-DOS. I tried copying the himem.sys file from this PC and put it in the messed up one, but windows won't acknowledge it. Prolly because the computer is runnin off of Windows 98 SE and I took the file outta a PC with XP.

If anyone can help me out please

put in your windows xp cd. tell it you want to install it.

it will then ask do you want to clean install or upgrade.

Select upgrade (this keeps ALL of your files and your programs but it just reinstalls windows files only) keeps your stuff intact.

Nah it's cool y'all. I handled the situation yesterday.

See I was missing this file called HIMEM.SYS. I was picking my brother up from his school and after I did that I stopped by the schools library. I took the file outta that computer lol

I went home and through MS-DOS I copied the file into my computer with a floppy, popped in the recovery disc, and everything is working now. It even goes faster lol.
