anyone know the name of the guy that does that part in the middle of the song. like could someone look thru the album credits. i saw him at the show, but i forgot what his name was.
-
doesnt say anything about spoken word...the closest thing is:
Background vocals by John Legend & Tracy Spencer
the OG sample is by Michael Bolton
-
When I Put My CD On the Computer and got the track listing to put on my mp3 player, it sayed on the artist credit: "J.Ivy, Kanye West, Jay Z" ....So Im guessing J.Ivy
-
i think j. ivy is the chick singing "when it comes to being true, be true to me" or however that goes.
-
It is J.Ivy who does the poetry between Kanye's verse and Jay Z's second verse.
-
im pretty sure j. ivy is the singer of the chorus, not the middle guy.
-
yeah thats what i thought.
-
As far as I know that's Saul Williams.
-
I dunno that track off the top of my head, but I know Kanye did a track with a spoken word artist named Malik Yusef...
Might be him?

Yeah I saw that, and assumed he had changed his name to J.Ivy as a peformance name. Tracy Spencer is credited for background vocals, and a sample is used, I think Kanye would have credited the guy. When the track first came on the bootleg everyone thought it was Saul Williams and then when the final advance came out it changed from being feat Saul Williams to feat J.Ivy so I have always assumed that is the guy who does the poetry bit.

that happened a few times...remember self conscious feat. lauryn hill...aka all falls down feat. syleena johnson lol.
