does anyone know if he has said anything about making another album? I know some peeps didn't fell UTI that much, but I think its a bangin ass album. I sure hope he puts out at least one more album before he retires.
-
Knoc-Turn'al said he was going to in an interview and on that rude awakening song....but that's all we've pretty much heard on it.
and nice sig, it reminds me of BASEketball
-
well thats good news...I guess. anyone know how old quik is? I'm listening to the new suga free album right now, and damn he sure the fuck hasn't lost his touch on the production tip. If I were a millionaire like bill gates, I would personally pay quik a million dollars to keep making albums.

im sure he will do another cd....ok no sure but i hope so :)

He's 34 I believe

Lets hope he doesn't drop any new album again. After "Under The Influence" I don't want another one out. That was weak. Had a dre/quik production on it (for ovbious sales reasons) and a few tracks were really weak (production wise) the only track that I felt was a really qignature Quik track was One On One
I say: Good on him for retiring, it's good to see he ovbiously is very smart and knows when to call it quits. Other rappers/producers however, go on til they completly lose ALL respect and touch.
Message to Quik: Enjoy your retirment - sit back, BUT release some of your older material in the vaults which is gurenteed to have your classic signature sound from your Rythm-ana-lism days (as I know he done a LOT of production then) and some of the Balance & Option tracks we never got to hear.

you must not have heard suga free's new album.

I have! Angry Enuff is hot. Besides that. I've noticed Quik loosing his touch
-
"Under tha Influence" is hella hot. It sure has a couple of misses, but songs like "Trouble", "Come tonight", "Murda 1 Case", "Get tha money", "50 ways"... make it a bangin album. And don't forget the two grooves in there. Hot.
Quik should not retire, he's the one bringing new shit to the game. Plus he's retiring from rapping and not from producing I believe. But he is a funny-while-still-dope lyricist and a very good rapper. He shouldn't retire.
-
WC2K: Dj Quik said that he quit rapping and is no longer making records. Do you ever talk to him about that?
Suga Free: Yeah, he mentioned it, but you know when you love something so much like that and you're a guy like him, its hard to believe. I really dont think so, that dude is so.....I think the best is yet to come out of him.
thats what suga free said, so lets hope he's right ;)

Under the influence was Quiks 2nd best album, "Quik is the name" is the best.
This Kruger kid must be a youngsta, Quiks just done a Jay Z beat, hes finally blowing up. Under tha influence got hype reviews in Source mag and XXL... hes at his peak right now.
Why should he retire? fool

Of course he's doing big things with big names now, but at his peak? Musically definitely not. Just because he's making beats for jay-z doesnt mean he's at his best now. If you been listening to Quik for a while you can tell that he's loosing his touch. "Under Tha Influence" didnt have the Quik signature on it, it had Dres name all over it, and I sure wouldnt call it his 2nd best album.

I wouldn't say he's losing his touch. He's just experimenting with different sounds. I think people just ain't into him anymore, because the beats he did for Suga Free's new album have that signature Quik sound.

i want nothing more than a new quik album. id be satisfied music wise for a looong time. WCAftershock said they had inside news on a new quik album awhile back but never posted anything more like they said they would( of course, fuckin liars). and for alla yhall dissin UTI, ur crazy. at least 10 bangers on there. quik is the best musician OF ALL TIME.
-
I say Quik outta release two more albums and maybe release a
colection full-of songs that didin't make the cutt along with the songs from them 1987 undaground tapes! What do ya'll think about
that? ;D
-

I wouldn't go that far. "Safe and Sound" and "Rythm-al-ism" are classics, UTI was a good album but nowhere near the level of those 2
-
I'd say rhythmalism is his best, safe + sound second. Balance and Options is my least fav quik album but its still dope. I liked UTI a lot, and thought a lot of bangers were on it. And I really, really like all the production on suga free's new album, whether it be quik or big saccs.

I'd rank "Safe and Sound" ahead of "Rythm-al-ism" for the fact that "Dollaz and sense" is one of the best rap records ever, better than anything on "Rythm-al-ism"

I agree, dollaz and sense is beyond classic. I fuckin luv mc eiht, but quik fuckin killed him in this song. but I just luv the overall feeling of rythalism too much, so many classic songs on it, in fact I say its a better album than dre's chronic 2000.

Hell yeah... put it like this, UTI was 2002, and when I copped it I was really disappointed. Listened to it about two weeks ago and it suddenly sounded totally different... it's like I suddenly heard it in a different light if that makes sense 8) Quik's ahead of his time IMO...
... by that reckoning I'll start feeling Jay's 'Justify My Thug' sometime next year, lol...
-
i hope there will be another album and the greatest hits wasnt his last project :'(

This Kruger kid must be a youngsta,
This is Mick you idiot. I aint no youngsta.
