This is interesting
i picked up this magazine (one of those free ones with the classifieds) and it had a section with the most played artists on modern radio. It says the results are based upon the years 1980-2003 year end radio play list results. Then an average of how many plays each individual radio single plays AFTER promotion of album and during.then average of previous result combined with other songs
1. Metallica-aprox. every 0.5 seconds a disc jokey plays a metallica song
most played song :Unforgiven
2. Pink Floyd- aprox. every 0.67 seconds a disc jokey plays a Pink Floyd tune
most played song: Money
3. Guns 'N Roses- aprox. every 0.71 seconds a disc jokey plays a G'N'R song
most played song: Sweet Child o Mine
4. AC/DC- aprox every 0.79 seconds a disc jokey plays an AC/DC song

9. Led Zeppelin- Aprox every 1.04 seconds a disc jokey is playing a Led Zepplin song
most played - Stairway to Heaven (duh)
10. The Eagles- Aprox every 1.11 seconds a disc jokey is playing an ealges song

Red Hot chilli Peppers (every 2.12 seconds)
Eminem (every 3.58 seconds)
Snoop (every 5.2 seconds)

The Neptunes (every 2.2 seconds)
That's weird that metallica is actually the most played act on radio since 1980, considering radio wouldn't play them until 1991/92. a WHOLE FUCKING DECADE SINCE THEIR FIRST ALBUM! It has an extended article saying that the reason why they're so high is because behind the Beatles and Pink Floyd, Metallica has the highest back catelouge record sales

i bet they only surveyed a city or two...most of those artists are rarely played here. i do hear a metallica song now and then when i actually decide to turn the radio on...never any pink floyd, never dre, never 2pac (sadly and im on the westcoast), unfortunately theres a ton of ac/dc
-
actually it was a semi world wide survey
and why do you say unfortunately about ac/dc they're the bomb.com
-
I never hear metallica on the radio in charlotte, never hear pink floyd, never hear ac/dc, never hear dr. dre for sure, never hear Snoop, never hear Guns N Roses.
