Title: Immortal Technique
Post by: IKON on March 06, 2004, 11:56:46 PM
I saw his cd for sale for $8.99 at tower,(Revolutionary Vol.2) well I had seen a few threads in here about him and had read at other forums about how dope he is, he has a large internet following, so I said fuck it its only 9 bucks

well  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

this guy is so damn dope with his lyrics, he flows like no other, and the issues he talks about are all real, no bullshit rap, I was immediately hooked, i ordered vol.1 immediately and just got it yesterday through the mail, not as good beatwise as vol.2 but lyrically its on the same level

damn and this guy has rejected signing contracts from big companies as well (i believe def jam)

i think he's had offers from quite a few different record labels...thats what i respect him for most...he brings real shit and wont settle for anything less. i love that. i love both his albums...if i had a fuckin tower records anywhere closer to me than seattle i'd go pick up the real thing for 9 bucks...i have a downloaded one...eventually ill order both from sandbox automatic...till then my pirated cds are ok with me.

You should've went to see him live homie. He was in L.A. on Tuesday. I made a thread about it, too. But, of course it got slept on. The show was beyond amazing and the best thing about it, tickets were 12 bucks.

I hear you on the beats on Rev 1, but those lyrics are  :o That's why I like it more. But, Rev 2 is amazing, too.

I think it's more than that but still, considering he does the very little promotion that the album has all himself and his distribution is not great at all it's not too bad.  Since he sells the albums at shows, mails them out personally, thru his site and other internet sites I think that getting an accurate sales figure on the album is pretty damn difficult.

Some of you fools need to buy his albums instead of just downloading them. He going the independent route, spurning the major labels and all their bullshit, and how does he get repayed, only 2000 people actually bought the album. I bet there is at least the same amount again who've downloaded it and not bought. It an artist is dope then support what he does.

i plan to soon but im still getting over my fear of sandbox automatic...i've never used it and i dont wanna get ripped off for 20 or 30 bucks (if i ordered both). i think ill go check best buy...or maybe ill check tower when i take my girl to EMP because there is one right next to it.

I OWN Rev 1 and Rev 2, but even Immortal Technique advocates the burning of CD. He's still making a good chunk of change off it. Since it's independent, he gets a GREAT return from each CD sold. Although, I've supported him more than most people, since I own both his CDs and went to see him live already.

IT is dope...been listening to him for a while (C2knuckle) introduced me to that guy

"Fuck a record deal, I want development land
With my benevolent clan
And that's the reason that I only trust my fam
40,000 records sold, 400 grand
Fuck a middle man, I won't pay anyone else"

i just listened to dance with the devil and GOT DAMN :o :o :o

i hate having burned music and only buy OG

hey fu gee luke ;D sandbox automatic is 100% safe, thats where I ordered vol.1 from and got it in a week, the only bad thing about them is that something they lag it on shipping, it can take from 1 to 2 weeks to get stuff from them, but they will come through

I once ordered succesfully some disc from Sandbox Automatic, and I live in Germany, so they even had to ship it. Actually I didn't order the discs, but a mate who has the ability to pay via VISA (or something like that), and he often makes collective orders from different people. On his next order I'll order both Immortal Technique albums, can't wait... :o

the tickets were actually 10 bucks for the show in LA. But anyway, the show was dope, he said he made 400,000 off CD sales and COncernts, which ain't that bad, considering he's pretty new

Yes, the show was crazy.

Quote
I got Re.4m at the very tail end of his show, so I can't speak much for him. He did bust a freestyle, as he is a Project Blowed participant, which is what they're known for. That was rather tight. After Re.4m was Time Machine. They're a duo, one black and one white(possibly Latino, couldn't tell). At the beginning their show was OK, but they finished with a routine called Spelling Bee. They would bring up words in their raps and state "You can't spell without ." And they would expand on that word. It was very tight. I've never really seen that type of routine. I gave them much props for that.

Next up, L.A. Underground staples Acid Reign. They started their set with just Beond and Gajah, later on they brought up the other member OlMeca(some of you might know him from the Band Slowrider). They did some hot freestyles and acapellas. They have that Project Blowed sound, since that is what they also rep. OlMeca busted some hot verses in Spanish, as well. Anyone familiar with the L.A. Underground will know them. Peep out their site for info on Acid Reign, Re.4m, OlMeca, Slowrider and other artists on their Nomadic Sound Systems label. They have some up coming shows, so check that out.

After 3 acts, Immortal Technique came out. He busted out some crazy off the top freestyles, acapellas and most of his material. He did songs like "The Illest," "The Point Of No Return," "Industrial Revolution," "Harlem Streets," "Dance With The Devil," and others. He had so much energy. It was crazy. He had one of his boys with him who did a song of his, very tight. IT did a few of his pattened "Political/Social rants." One that stood out "Fuck Pussy Rap!" The crowd loved that. He ended the night with a call and response shout "Viva La Revolucion!" Great way to end his amazing set.
