Rumors of Crooked I leaving Death Row Records have been circulating the past couple months, but we have got the official word from Crooked I himself.
Crooked I has decided to leave on March 5th when his contract expired, but is trying to keep the departure on good terms with his now former label.
"I'm not with Tha Row right now," Crooked I told BallerStatus.net. "We're trying to work something out right now, so that everything's resolved without no hard feelings."
Crooked I signed with Death Row Records in 1999, while CEO Suge Knight was incarcerated. The emcee has recorded a slew of material for the label, but most of it has yet to see the light of day.
"I did all I can do, really. I signed in '99, that's more than 4 years ago," Crooked I told BallerStatus.net. "I turned in a lot of material and for whatever reason, it didn't come out."
Even putting in all the work and not having his album drop, Crooked I insists that he is not bitter.
"I'm not bitter about it," Crooked I said to Ballerstatus.net. "It was just time for me to go."
Since his signing with Death Row, the only material that was released was "So Damn Hood" featuring Sisqo, a guest spot on Ashanti's "Baby (Remix)" and the lead single from the Dysfunktional Family Soundtrack, "Still Tha Row."
Named by Death Row as the "Best in the West," Crooked I is still working hard and is determined to release a classic record.
"I'm out here, still grinding, working on a few things," Crooked I said on his current situation. "Trying to continue the mission to put out that West Coast classic, that's it".
Now that Crooked I is a free agent, let the bidding wars begin. There are some things on the table right now, but nothing is offical yet.
**Staff note - His new label Dynasty Records just opened their web site. Visit the brand new label at www.westcoastdynasty.com .

the most interesting piece from that is this...
"Crooked I has decided to leave on March 5th when his contract expired, but is trying to keep the departure on good terms with his now former label."
no beef, no bs... just his contract expired and he's exploring his options.. cant blame him after being sat without a release for so long

doubt it...march 5th was last friday, he was off before that
-
well yeah, you wouldnt make the decision on that final day would you?
must have been talking and thinkin about renewals n that kinda thing..
he's contractually free now :)
-
i think thats a good thing that he is off the label but badd that we may not ever see any of his work that he did while on death row ... i guess we might only wonder
-
Let's not forget that it's Crooked I who wants to get out in good terms...we do not know how Suge feels about it, so there still may be some beef. And that would probably make Suge release Crooked I's work on Tha Row, so he can fuck his future release off Tha Row.

Since his signing with Death Row, the only material that was released was "So Damn Hood" featuring Sisqo, ....
was it actually released? on what disc? i remember when someone posted a link on the deathrow website the admin erased it with the words. "dont post links to UNRELEASED death row material."
-
yeah thast kinda odd..
i think the remix with juvenile was on a give away cd for something, NIK has it.
dont think it was commercially available.
crook also featured on the DPG 2002 thing and TGFR.. those tracks got missed off that list..
-
row release sso damn hood ssingle promo single like how they dropped sam sneed,ju-l promos etc with no artwork
tagg bacc
-
yeah i dont think ya could buy it or shit could ya?
-
yea i got a so damn hood promo cd, toby got the still tharow promo single if i remember correct. true seer they missed the gangsta rap track from 2002... the label pushed it by releasin a clean version on a promo cd aswell. actually its a dogg pound track. but...but.. tha row dot com was classic.... i read that comment from that guy at the row website , he said its not a label anymore, only a website... haha so that could be the leadsingle then. pfff LOL

Your right he was already leaving.. but he told us it wasnt official until March 5th because of his contract.. So thats why we didnt report it before then..
-
Yeah Sues I got the promo on cd and vinyl
As far as the March 5th thing goes, this sounds like a good cover up as to why he left. If u sign an album deal for x amount of albums, I didnt think time had a part to play? I mean, why would there be specific numbers of albums contracted, if at a certain point they get out of it anyways, ya dig?
Oh and Seer I think the list they had was for singles (even tho as stated above 'So Damn Hood' wsnt properly released) coz they only mentioned 'Still Tha Row' even tho he had like 8 joints on DysFunkTional Fam.
'Tha Row Dot Com' the song a classic? LMAO
-
Good for Crook. Hopefully he gets to take his music with him. "...and I own my publishing.. still tha row..!"

So Damm Hood was meant for the "Untouchable" album, and was going to be featured on a bonus disc along with the release of "Say Hi To Tha Bad Guy". Quite a number of songs got put through for this project. 2nd attempt had Vegas production
