-
Biggie aint that tight. Only reason niggas say he the greatest is kuz he dead. What did he do to be considered the greatest of all time? Nothin!

exactly. he was a good rapper and all...but the greatest? muthafuckaz be smoking on crack. maybe if he put out like 3-4 more classic albums...maybe i'll consider him as one of the greatest...but that never happend..
-
LOL, well from the replies to this thread, I'd say the answer to your question is YES, the west coast hates biggie. I don't, I think he was great.
-
I never actually felt anything from biggie....IMO he was never one of the greatest and am always amused when people say he was......
Truth be said, I heard more of him on PAC disses and after he died than from him personally while he was alive....
-
Almost anyone who hates Biggie DOES NOT represent the West Coast, the rep the legions of Pac dickriders who think it's cool to hate anyone who Pac did. Big = Pac. Always has been, always will be.
-
Ignore these posts....the west does not at all hate biggie. As the last dude said, the only people who hate biggie are the ones who are pac dickriders. I think Pac is better, and so does 70-80% of everybody else in L.A. that I know, but most of us don't hate Biggie at all, we just don't like him as much as the old Cube, Snoop, Pac, etc.
-
biggie is dope, I used to hate him when I was young and dumb, but when I pulled my head outta my ass I realized the great talent he had. The GOAT? no, but still a great rapper. RIP.
-
opinions are like assholes, everyone has one

Put Your Hands In The Air If Youz A True Playa Man that song has westcoast written all over it. He Stole Pacs concept so considering "Ready 2 Die" a classic ? Possibly, but considering the man who's name was on the release - hmmm I don't think so. That's like me building a car from designs and measurements I've stole of a friend and giving him no credit or money.
-
biggie is one of my fav, just like everything about him his voice his flow his lyrics his delivery
-

Word. Big would spit a line that made you think. He was talking about 2 or 3 different things and meanings with one line. He was on another level thats for sure.

How did he steal Pac's concept? Don't give me the story about Pac having to change Me Against The World becuase Biggie heard it and then made his album in the same vein. And looking at it that Biggie song you mentioned was actually more west coast sounding than anything Pac had done up til that time.

yo i live in new york city and nobody out here hates pac. as a matter of fact, i seen pac TATTOOES out here. people LOVE pac out here, although i'm sure it was a different story 8 years ago. they got mad love for pac out here. they got mad love for pac everywhere i've travelled.
-
i think pac is ok but i never understood the big deal about biggie.....everyone says his first cd is tight.....ok i give them that, but then they say he's the greatest because he got shot down in his prime....
one good cd doesn't mean you're in your prime...look at snoop he came tight his first cd and then declined into garbage
at least you can say 2pac was consistant if not improving

I think "Life After Death" was better than "Ready 2 Die"

Well 2Pac worked with Warren in 94, and the stuff he did with Stretch (that Stretch produced) prior to 94 was West Coast.
-
Biggie was one of the greatest of all time no doubt... To me, there is no one GOAT - nobody can ever be the best in everything (flow, lyrics, charisma etc...). But B.I.G., IMO, is definately up in da playaz club along with Pac and the rest of the legends.
But that one comment - "maybe if he had done 3-4 classic albums" shit. The guy did 2 classics. He may have done more, BUT HE GOT FUCKING SHOT DEAD. We'll never know - but I think we're lucky to have got what we got from the man.

Yeah that is true, I'll give you that one. But you still wrong about the whole Me Against The World/Ready To Die thing.
-

Or maybe we just really didnt feel him. You sayin it like if you dont like Biggie you a Pac dickryder. Big just wasnt nothin special. If he was alive today you think there'd be all this talk about him?
-
i'd be willing to bet most of the people on here saying they didnt like biggie are the same people who would say pac is the greatest of all time.
biggie was dope, pac was dope...neither were the goat.
-
Biggie was one of the greatest of all time no doubt... To me, there is no one GOAT - nobody can ever be the best in everything (flow, lyrics, charisma etc...). But B.I.G., IMO, is definately up in da playaz club along with Pac and the rest of the legends.

man biggie is tight i dont know what people be smoking and the reason people now say he is one of the greatest is because when you listen to new shit now adays and go back and listen to him and pac and so forth they are way ahead of these new fools.......biggie is tight one of the greatest they been playing all biggie mixes on power and 100.3 the beat out in LA all day showing lots of love for biggie all over the LA scene and those mixes where fuckin tight....biggie is def one of the greatest...
-
people complain that he only had two cd's when he died and that's the reason you can't say that he wasn't the greatest.
Dr Dre has 2 classic cd's. does that make him the greatest?
the thing is pretty much all rappers fall off or at least have a low point in thier career the only ones that haven't that i can think of are:
2pac: he made 4 cd's all classic or near classic
eminem: 3 cd's and he's still improving
-
fuck the complaining about only two albums...i mean when i was listening to power and 100.3 the beat play his mixes and shit of all biggie shit i was like shit that track is tight and then another one would come on and again i was like damn.....even tho he only had two cds he has a whole fuckin list full of hits.....hit after hit like the djs where saying......and its true two cds but a shit load of hits......he was one of the greatest artist no doubt in my mind
-

Exactly.

I know this is true, and will even admit that when Big first died I stupidly said "I gives a fuck. Fuck Biggie!". But now in my much more intellgient/mature days I'm a fan of Big's shit. One of the best emcees ever. And the whole Pac/Big beef was terrible. I laugh at dumbfucks who say shit like it was a good thing, or that we need more beefs like it in the rap game today.
-
i'd be willing to bet most of the people on here saying they didnt like biggie are the same people who would say pac is the greatest of all time.
biggie was dope, pac was dope...neither were the goat.
nope. I aint feelin Biggie and I think Eazy is the greatest.
-
I'm in the West and I don't dislike biggie at all. I have Ready to Die on cd. Do I think he's the best ever? Well he's in my top 20 so that makes him pretty damn good...
-
hes sick as fuck. good flow. love smokin to "ready to die" and who can forget the G funk DA B SIDE..that shit was hot.... this just reminds me of the track "i love dough" with jay z on life after death, which is sooo sick, it often gets overlooked, but i think its prob one of the top 3 tracks on the album.
-
opinions are like assholes, everyone has one
..and they all stink

No because at the time 2Pac was rapping about dealing with death. A lot of material hasn't come out yet from those unreleased recording from 2Pac's album yet some already have on soundtracks, and albums. A few were the likes of 'Only Fear Of Death', 'Bury Me A G' etc. (there's a version 2Pac done for his upcoming solo album)
A few songs did come out on the Me Against the world album anyway from those previous recordings but still - the concept was stolen, damm even look at the title. Says it all - 'Ready 2 Die'. Not something that Biggie would be bringing to the game if his first tracks were like 'Party & Bullshit' to this massive playa who's dealing with death - hell nah that was Pac!!
-
And to anybody - look at peoples first albums it will tell you a lot about the rappers themselves. When a new rapper hits the scene he wants to let you know who he is. 2Pac's first showed he was mentally fit, and was fighting the struggle, and supporting.
Snoop showed he was this LBC partying mutha.. that didn't give a f..
Eminem showed (not counting Infinite but first commercial release) that he was this funny comediac type of guy that said stuff to get people heated like he loves to piss people off)

"half these rappin cats ain't seen war /
couldnt score if they had point game, they lame /
speak my name, I make em dash like Dame"
