Seriously, if he wants to make hits again he has to come smooth with that sing-song type smooth flow......
BTW, I swear to god Kanye is like a new millenium Warren G, except he is really getting out there capitalizing on his shine by producing hits for so many artists. Kanye has got dope production like Warren had, the smooth voice Warren HAD, and better lyrics. Still, reminds me a lot of Warren G when he first dropped.
However, Regulate>College Dropout
-
a Kanye West - Warren G collabo would be :o
-
Warren needs to retire so we could look at his classsics rather than wack albums like return of the regulator - wasnt feelin that at all. & Kanye doesn't have a better flow than Warren, and word association, but he has better lyrics.
Quik crushes both on a producer/rapper scale

I've always liked warren's rappin abilities, dunno why people hate on him. the realistic thing is, the majority of music buyers just ain't diggin warren, most likely cause they are too young for him. its just so sad what the music industry has turned out to be. I can apply the same concept to hundreds of rappers.

List of rappers who shouldn't even be where they are right now
Nelly
Ludacris
Fabalous
Jay Z
Most wack, and the ones who do have talent should be behind in the list and people who deserve to be up there are rappers like
Crooked I
Llyod BanksDJ Quik (whos never had consistent mainstream success)
Kanye West (but his time is coming)
People who I agree with having a top spot the past few years are the likes of
Eminem
Nas

Yep, never thought about that but makes a lot of sense
-
^^^^
I agree with that - except for Jay-Z. He's no GOAT, (well nobody really is the GOAT) but I think he's justified to have what he has.
But Warren, in my humble opinion, has never dissappointed with his material. It's been G-funk all the way. His sound has changed from the old days, but then again - whose sound hasn't changed over a 10-year period? Always liked Warren's raps & beats, still do.
-
dam teecee that warren kanye comparison actually makes alot of sense.. good shit
-
Warren is still #1 for me, he always brings the heat. I LOVE Return of the Regulator, that's GFunk for the new millenium, you can't do G Funk the same way one did it in 93, he's grown up and advanced while still remained true. Everyone's got to give him props for that, even if you wasn't feelin ROTR.
I can't wait for a new Warren album, G Funk Files or whatever. And a Regulators album with N-A-T-E. I'll dry my thirst with this 213 thing coming tho.
-
Warren G is nothing like Kanye West. The fact is G Funk music has been slaughtered by wack artists so nobody is feeling it anymore. Warren G did some real bullshit songs to like I Shot the sheriff.
Kanye and NY is where the good music is at..
-
I dont know why u are complaining bout warren`s voice...the man finally learned how too rap! ;D Warren`s flow is tight nowadayz.
Peace

Yup, exactly.

To that I'd like to add his original flow was nice but sounded a little insecure wich isn't very good for a rapper.

G Funk is Dead..face it

Yeah, I've never thought of that collabo but it's true...I think it would sound hot 8)

The funny thing is, I was thinking about making a thread about the new Warren G voice. It's like he's rhyming more aggressively now or somethin, and I'm not feelin it at all. With his voice/flow now, he's just an average rapper, it was his laid back flow before that made him so tite.

yep. true dat!
except i think his style of raps now is still tight, but nothing like the old warren

what'chu smokin???? ;)
ROTR was dope as fuck, one of the best g funk cd's after 2000... but on the new 213 shit, Warren just aint the same (except on So Fly)... but then again i've only heard a couple of new tracks..

G Funk is Dead..face it
G-Funk dead?
You been drinking too much Mountain Dew!! ;D
As long as there is a smooth hook and a Nate G-Funk aint going nowhere!!
