Title: Phil Jackson fined $50,000
Post by: mrtonguetwista on March 12, 2004, 07:05:15 PM
NEW YORK, March 11 (UPI) -- The NBA fined Los Angeles Lakers Coach Phil Jackson $50,000 Thursday for criticizing an official after a game this week.

The Lakers were also fined $50,000.

Jackson was fined for comments about referee Bob Delaney after Utah beat the Lakers 88-83 Monday night. The Jazz rallied to win the game after the Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal was ejected in the fourth quarter following his second technical foul of the game.

"Bob Delaney's known to be very prejudiced against Shaquille," Jackson said. "We know that, so we wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a good call, but I'm not going to make a comment on that right now. There was contact, but it wasn't deliberate."

O'Neal had no comment after the game.

Oh yea, that really explains why they fined and suspended that one ref for 3 games, because of a "bad call" he made in the last Lakers vs Nuggets game...
