Title: Does anyone else find the KnocTurnal album...
Post by: PLANT on March 30, 2004, 08:36:08 PM
Dissapointing  ???

A week later and Im still not really diggin this album.  There's like 2, maybe 3 songs Im really feeling, and the rest is just dissapointing to me.  Even the Hittman song (which I expected to be really dope) wasnt that good, and the beat was sub-par.  I cant stand that song with Lil Mo, and the song with Timbo just doesnt sound right to me.  I dunno ,is it just me  ???  I was expecting ALOT more from this album.

I do, too. Besides Love LA, Peepin' Tom & Love Slave, there isn't anything special about this album.

I'm only feeling a few of the songs as well.  as for the hittman track, they should've replaced it with either Let Shit Go or Blaaw(even though knoc is only on the hook)

I liked Knoc's Landing a lot more than this. I wished that album had been released.

'Until That Day' is my joint at the moment.

Knoc's album is solid but nothing more. I guess it doesnt have too much replay value because it sounds kinda outdated at some places. The thing I dont get it is why he put so many old trax on there. I thought he said bootleggin was the reason Knocs Landin never dropped in the first place, and thats why he recorded another 200 new trax for The Way I Am so whats up with that. I guess most of those tracks he recorded were produced by inhouse producers and he wanted to keep the big names like Timbaland & Dre on there. Theres those little things on the album that dont sound right which makes the album disappointing, like the hook on "Love Slave" or the Damizza beat on "Change The Game". Im really disappointed with that track, Damizza came with so much heat lately but that beat sounded like shit. Other than that Peepin Tom is the joint of the year. Oh and is it me or did Slip Capone fall off a bit?

I agree. And what happened to Timebomb? I was looking forward to him being on it - has he left LAC or what?

yeah man, hella dissapointing.  There really aint any westcoast gangsta cutz on there.  Its a lil better than the suga free.  Its almost like these guys dont wanna blow.

I thought it was ok.  I think the last half of the cd is way better than the first half.  I think I'm going to sell it to the wherhouse.  Im going burn the tracks:
#3 Love La, #4 The way I am, #7Peepin' Tom,#9 Love slave, #14 Have fun, #15 Neva stop thuggin, #16 Him or me.  Know that I think about it's pretty tight just needed to removed a few tracks because track # 10,11,12, 13are pretty good. The songs that are week are #2,5,6,8.

Off the topic I heard the new Suga Free cd and I thought it was terrible.  When I went the wherhouse they were selling it for 3 for 20 dollar.  Just glad I didn't buy it

My copy arrived today... bumping it now and I don't know what  people are complaining about. Sure, it's not Street Gospel, but it's got the best beats I've herd from Quik in years...

this thead and is a prime example of why west coast hip hop is dead and will stay that way.  so what if it doesnt have the typical "gangsta sound"  its a really good album with good diversity and some really good cuts....i get the feeling people are still waiting for detox, doggystyle 2, dpg reunion album and a new 2 pac album or whatever other album from old washed up rappers from back in the west's glory days...maybe some should keep an open mind about things..the west has no new talents and knoc is the best new talent the west coast has...his album is nothing less than a 8 or a 8.5...btw suga free's is tight  i dont know what everyone is bitching about  8)

I think Knoc is very talented, but only a few songs on this album show off his talent. I still went out & bought it to support the West, though.

And yes, Suga Free's is tight. My favorite release this year by far.

This is goin at verbal assaulta
look man everybody has their own taste and  my taste is usually that gangsta sound.  I mean all and all, for the west thats the main distinctiion from other regions next to maybe funk, smooth laid back joints, and the roger troutman sound.  And dont get it twisted, im pushin for new artists to blow too, believe me u.Im tired of the old talent too but i still luv em. I feel like sometimes if you stay in the game too long, you end up staggering the careers of others-aka Snoop, and Jordan.  Sometimes you gotta chill like Jay and quik.
But still, regardless of what I think, Knocs album isnt going anywhere(as far a commercial sucess), and doesnt live up to the expectations of the majority of people who were waiting on it.  Take a poll cousin.  Now with sugra free man,
I luv that boy.  But again IMO, theres songs on that CD that I couldnt even believe made the tracklist.  Not when you
had 7 years
