Thought I'd continue that thread over here.
The Sample FAQ (http://members.accessus.net/~xombi/intro.html) lists info as follows.
McAllum, David
?: (? ?)
* "The Edge"
Dr Dre's "Next Episode"
Missin Linx's "M.I.A."
I can find no info whatsoever on David McAllum, but I did find that Missin Linx song on napster - so its definitely the 2001 version of The Next Episode. Plus the tash song Fallin On samples it.
Anyone got the Tash album to checked how its lsited.. maybe David McAllum was known under something else.
This cant be too hard to find... can it?
I checked a few more things out like trauma said - the most obvious one on 2001 is
Rose Royce
Rose Royce Strikes Back: (Whitfield 1978)
* "Love Don't Live Here Anymore"
Dr Dre ft Hittman's "Big Ego's"
but I spotted another when hunting...
Soul Mann and the Brothers
?: (? ?)
* "Bumpy's Lament"
Dr Dre ft Kurrupt and & Nate Dogg's "Xxxplosive"
I haven't had any luck finding this yet.
Xxplosive is the song that was sampled by Erykah Badu on Bag Lady (and she credits Dre for it).
Thanks Joe Cool, I didn't know about this one (I'd heard of the track buts thats all)
Fatback (Band, The)
Hot Box: (Spring 1980)
* "Backstrokin'"
Dr Dre ft Hittman, Kurupt & MS's "Let's Get High" (Interpolation)
I checked out Halloween theme too, Murder Ink does interpolate some of that for sure.

I found it! ;D
go here
http://www.geocities.com/damasjohn/sixties.html
and search for "edge", the guys name was David McCallum not McAllum.
I've let the guy at the Sample FAQ know the full details for the track, and about tash sampling it.
There is an low qual mp3 of it on there, and it even mentions the fact that Dre replayed it on his album!
Also...!
Soul Mann and the Brothers
?: (? ?)
* "Bumpy's Lament"
Dr Dre ft Kurrupt and & Nate Dogg's "Xxxplosive"
should be
Isaac Hayes
Shaft (Stax/Enterprise 1971)
* "Bumpy's Lament"
Dr Dre ft Kurrupt and & Nate Dogg's "Xxplosive" (interpolation)
in the FAQ.. I've mailed this to the guy too!

i may be wrong, but in the song "bang bang" it also sounds like (not a real) sample from THE EDGE,....
Funny somehow,.....i listen to it at the momnet and it is the same sound,.....
and what is an interpolation ?? if you change the sample some way ??
soo cool,......

Interpolation is kind of half sampling.
Best thing i can think of is that its like 'covering' the sample, and then expanding the original with your own elements .
-
8) yo you forgot the THS george Lucas sample for the intro
-

I'm gonna check this out... it is possible that Forgot About Dre (track 10) and the No Doubt song sampled/interpolated the same thing?
-
YES IT IS POSSIBLE,,,,THOSE ARE THE ONLY 2 THAT I KNOW OF THAT HAVE USED IT.....LET US KNOW WHAT U FIND OUT.
ALSO CHECK OUT KINGPIN SKINNY PIMP-SKINNY BUT DANGEROUS----THAT ALBULM HAS BEEN COPIED SO MUCH,,,,,,ITS LEFT WORSE THAN A STRIPPED BURNT OUT ROLLS ROYCE......BUT IT WILL OPEN MANY DOORS.

Almost all of the songs that were sampled are dope on their own.
-
ice cube sampled No Doubt's classic song "don't speak" for his song "war and peace".........just thought i'd throw that in
-
about the no doubt forgot about dre thing the 2 basses are similar but they just use the same chords but it's not an intentional sample or whatever it's just a cooincidentle chord usage it happens ALOT in rock
the guitar riffs are sampled from both of them though becuase i think that whole no doubt song is a cover becuase i've heard it some where else before
