Title: The Beautiful Struggle
Post by: Kill on April 06, 2004, 09:57:21 AM
i was just wonderin if I'm the only one who thinks he could've done better. I mean, it ain't a bad album at all, but there's sum shit i don't really like about it. Some joints sound a bit watered down and are nothing special production-wise, he kinda fucked up the Eleanor Rigby (Beatles) sample with that r'n'b singer, no Mos Def on it, etc...overall it's good tho, i just feel he could've done better.

I think Quality could've been done a bit better too, but it had sum real bangers on it ("Get By", "Good To You", "Waitin For The DJ") and the new one sorta lacks that too

sorry, I just realized "Supreme" does have Mos on it lol....I'm only listenin to that one for the 2nd time, 1st time i must've been on sumthin else mentally and he ain't credited in my tracklist...still, my overall impression remains

i thought it was dope. The sound quality was kinda anoying, casue it wasnt the best, but i think kweli rips every song hes on. Production is ok, but nothing too incredible (get by, The blast). I think whens its fully done and edited it will be hot. its hard for him to top his other works tho, cuase they are all, 4.5ish albums.

i thought Lonely People was dope, but, like u said, the singing kinda seemed out of place to me. doubt it'll be on the final release anyway...

You have to remember that the version that was leaked was only an early version, new songs will be recorded, and changes will most probably be made to many of the existing tracks. I think what we got was a pretty good base for a dope album once the changes for the final tracklist have been made.

yup, if it dropped like this, i'd vote for 'not bad', of course it's a good base for makin a dope album...but IMO he needs to improve it for that. and as for "Loneley People", i wonder if he gets the sample cleared, Beatles are hella hard to get and expensive as fuck from what i know

I don't think the Beatles have ever cleared anything actually.

damn.. I heard the album today for the first time... and i gotta say it's not even half as good as Reflection Eternal or Quality. THere aren't any consciout tracks such as "too late" "good mourning" "the proud" "where do we go" or "stand to the side". Some of the production is wack as fuck, and there are too many commercialized sounding tracks. "lonely people" is the best song by far, and i wanted 2 show it to my parents cuz they love beatles, but then i heard shit about masturbation and premature ejaculation and i didn't show it to them. I hope he  changes that verse, and overall, changes the whole alubum except for a coulpe tracks. If he's reading this, he should take a suggestion and change the album
