BOOST MOBILE PRESENTS THE RETURN OF XZIBIT’S HIP-HOP TALENT SHOWCASE RHYME NIGHT ON APRIL 17TH
Multi-platinum rapper Xzibit and Contrabandit.com recruit critically acclaimed lyricist Talib Kweli for special Rhyme Night performance at Hollywood’s Key Club
Hollywood, CA- Multi-platinum rapper Xzibit, Contrabandit.com and Boost Mobile are bringing their groundbreaking talent showcase Rhyme Night back to the West Coast. Hosted by Xzibit, the next Rhyme Night will take place at The Key Club in West Hollywood on April 17th. The Key Club is located at 9039 West Sunset Boulevard at the heart of Hollywood’s legendary Sunset Strip. Doors open at 9:00 PM.
This time around Rhyme Night will feature a special live performance from critically acclaimed hip-hop star Talib Kweli, whose newest offering The Beautiful Struggle is due in stores this summer. Joining the legendary lyricist on the Rhyme Night stage will be rising West Coast rap stars Sly Boogy and Xzibit’s new super group Strong Arm Steady. Rhyme Night will also feature platinum producer Fredwreck (Cypress Hill, Westside Connection, Snoop Dogg) and LA mixtape king DJ Warrior acting as DJs of the event.
“Sly Boogy and Strong Arm are two of the biggest new acts on the West,” says Rhyme Night co-founder Xzibit, whose wildly popular new show Pimp My Ride is one of MTV’s highest rated programs. “Rhyme Night is focusing the spotlight on these particular artists because we want to build their fan bases. They definitely have a lot of buzz in the streets and we want to let the fans come out and enjoy their live performance.”
Rhyme Night co-founder Ryan Ford, who is also the West Coast Correspondent for The Source, agrees with Xzibit. “Sly Boogy and Strong Arm Steady have a very strong presence on mixtapes throughout the West Coast and now its time for their fans to get a chance to see them. Performing alongside an established artist like Talib Kweli only heightens awareness about these groups.”
Already an alum of The Source magazine’s Unsigned Hype column, Sly Boogy’s coming debut on J Records promises to display his unprecedented lyrical skill. Sly Boogy’s “California (Remix),” was a mainstay on Los Angeles radio last year and his current single “That’s My Name” is starting to gain momentum.
Hot on the heels of the release of Strong Arm Steady The DVD, underground icons Krondon, Phil The Agony, Mitchy Slick along with Xzibit are California’s most anticipated rap group in years. Strong Arm Steady has blanketing the West Coast with their sought after mixtapes and proving that rap skill is alive in Los Angeles.
