I'm defending SGV and Rod here. I think unless you go to clubs, you won't really understand what it's like. Like "Tipsy" for example, when I hear that song on the radio I turn it off. But if I'm at the club, I fuckin love the song. No way to really explain it. It's just the atmosphere. Lil Jon makes music for the clubs. Don't hate on the man for doing what he does well. Puffy used to get hated on for making 'pop' rap, until he came out and said he just wanted to make people dance. Then everyone was like, 'aight cool'. D12's "40 oz" would be a dope song at the club, but if you're just chillin at home or somethin, it's not that nice. Unless you go clubbing, I don't think you'll understand what I'm tryin to say here.
-
yup its true... for example, any dre shit fills a dance floor in a second..
just like how some shit is just made to be played in a car
-
I disagree. I go out to clubs/bars pretty much every weekend, and it fuckin sickens me to hear this shit being played. bitches dance to it cause it has a catchy beat and chorus. well lots of songs have that, and I can think of many better songs to play than that lil jon shit, and whatever else the fuck is out there that I don't even know.
-
^ they dont play that shit here! :)
maybe its just the clubs i go to.. they dont play 'pop' really..
they play dance music mostly.. and what hiphop there is is stuff like MOP, Dre um.. ohh and one girl in town ends the night with jurassic 5's concrete schoolyard.. but i go to undergroundy type clubs....

I am in college, and I am one of the types of people who likes goin to the club, long as its tite. But yeah, a lot of songs, especially Tipsy, sound dope as hell at a club. It is a lot of songs I like, but I wouldn't want to hear them at a club. I think a lot of people, especially those on the internet, are "brainwashed" and don't realize all music serves different purposes. Back in the 70s, do you think people really gave a fuck about the lyrical content when it came to disco and funk? Songs from my favorite old school artists such as George Clinton weren't sayin shit at all in their songs, and who cares?? Many people are too concerned about shit that doesn't mean anything when you are dancin with a female. Crooked I is one of my favorite artists, but in a club, I could care less if it's him or Nelly, whoever makes the females dance the most and repeat the most lines in the song is who I want to hear.
-
Yeah, you cant force everyone to like the same kind of music, althought it would be good if they all liked WC rap...

I ain't sayin that I wanna hear some great lyrics in the club. Lil jon is just annoying to me. nelly is annoying to me. ja rule is annoying. bonecrusher is annoying.
There is lots of dope westcoast albums and songs that should be played in the club and is way better than most of the shit they play.
Examples:
Mac Dre's latest album Al-boo-boo has plenty of songs on it that would fit the club perfectly. I'm sure most no one on here has heard it tho.
Roscoe's same as above. tons of club songs.
As sad as it sounds, WSC album terrorist threats has quite a few club songs.
yukmouth with godzilla had lots of club bangers.
Hi-C, with Don't Wanna Know f/ Nate Dogg - Damn this is one of the hottest bangerz out their for the clubs or the radio, but it doesn't get any play.
Dj Quik's Trouble and Put it on me. I mean c'mon these 2 songs are 100x better than any of that bullshit played in clubs by all those artists I listed as annoying.
Bad Azz Personal Business had some club bangerz and radio hitz, I never heard them once.
I could name shit for days, but I think I have gotten my point across. The west makes tons of songs that would be the shit in the clubs, shittin on all the crap they play these days.

Now I am probably as pro-west as it gets. But I realize that different people have different taste in club music. I am black, but blacks in L.A. have completely different taste from those in Florida generally. I am from L.A., but even at that, I realize many songs that may seem to be club songs wouldn't really get a good response in a club, especially out in Florida. Roscoe has a few songs that are dope to C-walk to, but most west coast songs are too laid back for girls to really enjoy hearin. Some lil jon is annoyin, but shit like yeah/freak a leek (same beat) and get low when it first came out, is just much better as far as club music than most west coast songs. I realize that if you play somethin like "I don't wanna know" in L.A., females might feel it a lil but it ain't somethin they would go wild over like Yeah...but if they playe4d "I dont wanna know" out here, the girls would probably leave the dance floor, just because they aren't accustomed to it. Now some songs are dope as hell in the club that are west coast, but most of it, especially newer songs, are too laid back and just don't have that fire like many down south songs have.

The reason its sounds better is cuz you are DRUNK as a mothafucka by then! Everbody in tha club is in a good mood, peeps get hyped so that feelin gets stuck on you too...Thats my excuse atleast for listening too wack muzik hahahaha ;D

that and the girls at the club. if you're at the club tryin to take home a girl (or more), your first thought shouldn't be "Why aren't they playing Mac Dre" or "I'm not dancin to this shit, J-Kwon can't rap", should be "how am I going to get this girl in my bed tonight"

lol yeah aint like u would think "shiiiiiiit i dont give a fuck if that bytch is bouncin her big round juicy azz infront of me, i wont dance with her cuz Nelly is wack"

last 3 posts sum it up perfectly

True, certain songs are made for clubs. Dr. Dre's Next Episode sounds great in the club, in my car it just sounds aight. Dre has a knack for making club bangers period. Lil Jon's shit was definitely made for the clubs. That Usher song is a great example of that. In the club everyone loses their mind when they hear it but in the car, it just sounds so-so. DMX, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Nelly, etc, all that shit sounds way better in the club than anywhere else.
IMO, west coast music is made for the cars and is mostly laid back, primarily while that south shit just gets people going nuts. Master P's Make em Say Uggh, Ludacris's Move Bitch, JT Money's Who Dat, definite club songs. Outkast's Rosa Parks, I like The Way You Move, club songs.

Pretty much how I feel. There are some west coast songs I'd love hearin in the club, but overall most west coast songs, even if they seem like it, aren't really made for the club.

this is one of the more interesting threads Ive read on hear in a second. ;) Man I remember the first time they played cali love at the club. Ive never in my life seen a club get so live. One of my favorite club memories AND it was the remix. 8)
-
Craziest I ever seen a club was @ Mysteries in TJ when Lil Jon's "I Don't Give A Fuck" came on. Whoa.
-
When most people get of age, they'll understand.
Craziest shit I ever seen was when "Bia Bia" came on at Club Metro. Muthafuckas started getting jumped, everyone was throwing up sets and shit. That's out here, I can only imagine in the South.

I have heard of Club Metro...where is it? Man....I go to Atlanta at least twice a year, and man, when I first went to a club there, I didn't realize they get as wild as they do in the videos, jumpin around pushin and shit. I personally don't even like that shit, bein from L.A. I am used to goin to clubs to hear shit I dance to females with, not jump around bouncin too...but man they have energy outta tha world down south when it comes to lil jon, pastor troy, etc shit

That's how it was @ Mysteries. Like a moshpit full of black dudes. Pushin' bumpin', and throwin' up sets. Shit was crazy.
-
Over here, regular clubs hardly play any hiphop and especially no westcoast hiphop..Let's see I've heard:
Next Episode
What's the difference
Beautiful
Bitch please (but then they only play the Nate Dogg part >:(..The whole thing would rip the shit out of everything else I guess..)
It's really sad,you here little more then trance and pop over here in the clubs :-\..
I'd love to see what reaction joints from 'Doggystyle','Personal Business' or a DJ Quik album would get,but sadly......that ain't gonna happen :'(
I'd love to hear Soopafly's 'Gotta get dis money' in the club! :o
-
Clubs here always do a "Toast to the Westcoast". They'll play about 10 Westcoast Songs in a Row. It's pretty dope. They'll play Knoc, Crooked I, Snoop, Kurupt, Dre.
-
^^^ No shit, you have heard Crook in the club? that is fuckin amazing. what song?
Please tell me the kurupt song they play is We Can Freak It.
-

I'll co-sign on that!!!
-
i agree some songs sound better in the club but as people have said its just cause u in a different mood then u are when sittin at home or in a car.
that being said most of the places i go to dont seem to have that bad music. it always surprises me how many dre/dre-produced songs get played over the night. alotta of his beats suit the club atomsphere

The Club was in the Riverside/Roubidoux area, but it's closed down now. The crowd and staff now go to Club Gotham in San Bernardino.
I just got back from Miami last night. It ain't really Crunk there, but do they love Lil' Jon. Everytime I put the radio on, it was either "Culo," "Yeah" or "Salt Shaker" being played. They got some big names on the radio, which I didn't know. DJ Khaled(from Terror Squad), Big Tigger(Rap City) and Baka Boyz(it was good to hear them, since it's been a minute). But, man! Don't nothing get a club poppin' out there like Pitbull's "Culo." It's a fitting jam for Miami, too. Miami bitches all "tiene tremendo culo!!!"
As for West Coast jams getting played in Clubs. Only jams that are West Coast and are in bumped in Clubs I go to, "What Would You Do," "California Love," "How Do You Want It," "Next Episode," "Why Ya Bullshittin'," and maybe one or two other jams, but that's it.
-
^^ LOL at your avatar pic SGV. You'z a fool.
-
def at a club its all game different mood but shit music always sounds better at the club.....but westcoast shit they play mostly every night .....has to be "aint no fun" and everyone goes wild for that shit......they all love it.....and def "California Love".... those have to be the two biggest hits.........but def there is more that get played almost every night like "Next Episode" "Lets Get High" "Bad Intentions" "Bitch Please" "Beautiful" "Get Your Walk On" "X" "Why You Bullshittin"
....shit like that gets played im not saying they always playing shit but those are usually what you are going to hear.....at the club if you going to hear westcoast shit.....but usually when they throw in California Love or Aint No Fun .....the club loves that shit.....but like i said im out in LA....so who knows how it is anywhere else.....La Mirage in artesia usually does an ok job at bumpin some westcoast shit......but i think the club i have heard the most westcoast shit ever was at Papas & Beer in Rosarito last spring break.......shit they were even bumpin "dogg catcha" by Daz they got off with a shit load of westcoast music
-

Yea, that's where I usually hear the majority of West Coast shit. Probably because it's so close to Long Beach, they like to play more LBC-related shit.
BBA: What'chu know about!?
-
Honestly, the only reason it sounds better at the club is because they have a huge megawatt sound system that fills a large, huge hall with people dancing in it with the sound. It envelopes everything around you, and you even feel the music in your bones, so yeah, it sounds better, it's just you're totally immersed in the music.
-
^^ LOL at your avatar pic SGV. You'z a fool.
LOL, yup.

I love when Stern clowns Seacrest about the whole "Seacrest! Out!" thing. He got this bit now where someone says "Seacrest! In!" You hear some guy moan, then it goes "Seacrest! Out!"
LMAO. Classic. Fuck the FCC!!
