Title: Nas CD Pushed Back to September/Now a single disc
Post by: Lil Jay on May 06, 2004, 08:26:43 PM
Promising a return to the form of his early days, Nas had grand designs for his upcoming seventh studio album, Streets Disciple. But those designs have changed.

After promising a double-CD release on July 2, Streets Disciple will now be a single disc released on September 14, the rapper's birthday. Nas is in the process of whittling down some 40 songs into a more manageable package.

Nas' plans to stage a free concert in New York's Central Park on the Fourth of July, which would evoke the feeling of old-school rap jams, have also been altered. The concert will now take place in August as part of the park's SummerStage concert series, though details are still being finalized.

A representative for Nas said the show's date was adjusted to more properly promote the album. In two weeks, Nas will shoot a video for the album's first single, "Thief's Theme."

Good news. I didn't like the idea of the double cd.

He's now just making a single disc, but needs two months more though ??? But I'm sure Nas'll come with a heater again.

Great idea.  Like he said, keep an album to 10-14 tracks.

I guess that previous tracklisting was fake, I'm shocked.  ::)

at first i was disappointed but having thought about it more i guess its a good idea to release an album full of quality tracks than a double disc set that might contain filler... 8)

^^ Definitely, I always prefer a 10-14 track cd, that I can listen to without skipping. But I'm still wondering why the release-date is that late, although he already recorded the 40 new songs he will be picking from.
