Why wasnt Warren on the cd version of Lets Play House???
Is it true that Daz used NO SAMPLES on the disc? Big props if true......
when this cd came out, i was MAD DISAPPOINTED, completely!!!! I mean, all that had came out on death row at this time was chronic, doggystyle, mwtc(best sdtrk ever), and Above the rim. I was expecting Dogg food to be on the level of Doggystyle or Chronic, or even MWTC, but it just did not have any true hits on it, although i came to appreciate the cd and consider it a classic nevertheless.
Still, imagine it with Niggaz and Bitches, What Would U Do, and U Cant C me!!!
You would have an amzing cd, take off those bullshit song like If We All Fucc, and Do What i Feel and you have gotta a CLASSIC
-
^^^^^^
feel da same way u do bud.....tho i wouldnt mind Dogg pound 4 life and big pimpin on it as well..and i mean da one from above da rim...those songs r classic
-
btw Every Single Day from doggpound 2002 or the unreleased version wit nate on da hook woulda been perfect for dogg food
-
I like it the way it is. Classic LP
-
yeah thats what deathrow allways did ...i mean...take some of the best tracks and use them for soundtracks and shit....thats why we love mwtc etc .... 8)
-
i personally think that albums really good its got good shit on there, plus its when kurupt could flow too!
-
naw the album isnt sample free, but it aint filled with jacked shit either......for one I DONT LIKE TO DREAM ABOUT GETTIN PAID is sampled from an old lionel richie song, the song is in the booklet...
and I agree with you sayin that they shudda kept of bullshit songs like "bomb azz pussy" and "if we all fucc" and replaced it with the hard shit with kurupt flowin raw
........but hey this is still a classic 8)

the album was and is still a dope LP IMO. songs like respect, lets play house, ny ny, smooth, i dont like to dream...., do what i feel were dope as fuck and all the beats were great. itz a shame that they only released one single (lets play house, but wit 3 differnet covers...lol). there was a vid to ny ny too but no single out. i bump the respect instrumental in my ride from time to time.... off the chain.
-
ohh i didnt realise they didnt many of em out as singles.
thought they'd put out more as i've got respect and ny, ny and lets play house on 12''
-
^^ but the only one with a real coverartwork and available in stores was letz play house. the other ones re promos.
here the covers to letz play house:

I love "If We All Fucc" and "Bomb Azz Pussy". I think I like every song on the album. It's one of my all-time favourites.
Dogg Food is better than Murder Was The Case.
I wouldn't call it a classic either.

yeah I agree. and warren g wasn't on the cd most likely cuz suge hated him. he also wouldn't let the dogg pound be on his album.
-
^^^
wat a dick dat suge is....i always wondered y no deathrow ppl were on Regulate.
-
Some may say they like it the way it is, but imagine it with
Dogg Pund for Life
What Would You DO
Niggaz and Bitches
YOu Cant C Me
Every Single Day
Just Doggin
^ classic songs
This cd would be as good as Chronic or Doggystyle, or at least close! by the way, anyone have a FULL VERSION of the ORIGINAL of Every Single Day, before Death Row ruined it?
And does anyone know if I Dont LIke to Dream about Getting Paid is just a remake of the original 213 joint (has anyone heard that)?
-
how could you be disappointed with dogg food...i bumped that cd on regular rotation for like 5 years...they just dont make albums this good anymore....actually i think i'll bring it out of retirement 8)

The cd is classic no doubt. But i was truly disappointed that what would u do was not on that cd. Thats my fav DPG joint. But truly if we all fuck, do what i feel, was replaced by what wouldu do or the original got my mind made up, damn that would be sick
-

No doubt. And those of yall that are saying that Do What I feel should have been left off, yall trippin. That's one of the best cuts on there. Bomb Ass Pussy is all the cut with it's laid back vibe.
I wouldn't change a damn thing on that album.
-
This is goin to teecee. Doggfood is a classic. Its on the same level as chronic and doggystyle. Doggfood as a classic is not even debatable.

I guess it is.
-
Classic LP. I can play start to finish.
-
AllfromtheIE, yo man, i think Dogg Food is classic too, but on the level of Doggystyle or The Chronic? Or even Warren's debut? I dont think so, it had filler, those other albums did not, and those three albums had better singles....
-
Dogg Food is much better than Warren G's debut IMO. I think that and Soul On Ice are highly overrated around here.
-
Toothpick, did you listen to Warren's debut when it came out? Just wondering, cuz lots of people that didnt actually check out cds when they first dropped just dont have the same perspective. I think Warren's album is flawless; As for Ras Kass, when it dropped it was considered a major disappointment by the few who anticpated it, but it grew on many and i would call it an underground classic
-
Warren G's album was a classic still is i recon it woz on par wit dogg food but as for doggystyle and the chronic its jus under them not by much
-

I got into hip-hop with this music (G-Funk), the early Death Row days around '93 so I must have bought Warren's album in '94 or '95. It's a short album so I would expect to be very tight but there were some dumb skits and some guest spots I wasn't too impressed with. Warren is an average MC too. It's a good album with some very tight songs but I don't feel it like Dogg Food.
Soul On Ice had some weak production and I don't think that Ras Kass sounded that good on the album. I enjoy the album but I think it's getting a lot for credit for just being the ignored debut of a great lyricist.
-
Toothpick, its all good man, just wanted to make sure you weren like 14 claiming you know whats up man. Of course warren is an average mc, but what made him good on his debut was his melodic flow, and his laid back style (as opposed to his current flow). As for guest spots, what was not to like? Dove Shack were dope, Twinz ripped every song, and the 5 Footas? They are very tight for female rappers.....As for skits, each to his own, but i would take a short "94 Ho Draft" over a "Big Pimpin 2" anyday.......
As for Ras kass, he never SOUNDS amazing, dude is cursed with a very average voice, thats just the way it is. What he did on that album was make straight hip hop, and it came out very subtle yet extremely dope. He did his own thing, and peeps never really caught on until it became fashionable to do so. I thought that production was incredible btw, i would much rather hear Ras over that kind of stuff than the stuff he rapped on on Van Gogh and his re-up compilation. Ras had some dope inhouse producers, and Battlecat truly laced him, before BC became monotonous. I think the cd wasnt received well because the beats werent commercial, and werent similar to g-funk, which dominated that era
