Sales figures prove that PS2 is 5 times as popular as X-Box.
On the U.S. top 250 list which track every game sold ever, PS2 have 73% of the games, 15% X-box, and only 12% GameCube.
#1 is of course GTA: Vice City, with 6 million sold units!
GTA3 sold 5.3 million.

You might wanna update those figures...Halo has now sold over 4 million copies in the US.
Oh, and BTW...Xbox outsold PS2 in April/May (one of em, I forget).
PS2 can have their "ownage" for now...we'll have to wait and see about PS3 vs Xbox 2.
PS: I laugh whenever I see a PS2 online commercial.

Well i guess its another thing to gloat with. Xbox owns under 20% of the market. Thats just plain pathetic. Whats even worse is nintendo has been around for years and its doing even worse than the xbox.
even if halo sold 10 million it still wouldnt help the xbox. and i dont believe to my knowledge that the gta series in xbox sold anything like ps2 did.
once again....i could care less about ps2 being behind in online gaming. but i must point out.
when the ps2 was being made. PC was barely popular to play games online let alone consoles. When the xbox came out online gaming was at a high. so they could preplan how they were going to make the xbox play online.

nope, they're really slacking in the video games section....first they come out with a console as big as a 1984 VCR, their internal developement crew suck, and they don't snag up too many of the hit games (props for getting KOTOR, Halo, and Morrowind) those are the only REAL stand out games on the xbox. quality games, third party support along with console specific games is why the ps2 is leading the market

i know a lot of people who have had ps2s, sold them and got xbox's.
you have to remember.. sony are in their second gen.. this is micrsofts first shot.

Why? ... because this list doesn't take into account all the classic consoles, like the Genesis, the Playstation 1, the Super Nintendo, the Nintendo, The Gameboy, etc. While the PS2 does own the market, the GTA series is not the most successful of ALL time, just the most successful in the new generation. There's been about a dozen Mario games. Do you honestly think GTA has outsold Mario? Hell no.

i know what you mean, i tried to look up the stats for final fantasy because i know they sell millions each time but i couldn't find anything
plus i thought i remember reding that goldeneye for 64 was the most purchased game for any system but that could have been just in the united states

The reason the games on the PC have "500x" better graphics than Xbox is due to the video card of the system the shots were taken from. With cards like the 5950 ultra, 9800 xt, x800, and FX 6800 ultra coming out, of course they're gonna look better than on Xbox.
Some other GREAT games on Xbox that stand out:
Ninja Gaiden (can't argue with that one)
Rainbow Six 3 (named the best xbox live game by many game critics... a similar version is available on PC)
Ghost Recon(s) (Available on PS2 and PC as well, but the online play was by far the best on the Xbox...a very good team-based tactical shooter)
PS2 outsells the shit out of the Xbox...I cannot argue with that...but I can argue why. PS2 came out an entire year + before the Xbox, which, like rampant said, gained fans loyalty. They already had great success with PSOne, and when the PS2 launched, EVERYONE (yes, even me) was like "HOLY SHIT!!". In that year alone, PS2 sold millions and millions of systems and games.
So, when the Xbox launched, everyone was very skeptic about it. The design was large and bulky, and had only a few games to show off its graphical capabilities. So when the Xbox dropped, the PS2 fans' loyalty stayed true, and the Xbox more or less bombed in the first year or so. However, more and more great games keep coming out on the Xbox that are grabbing gamers of all kinds' attention, with MANY amazing titles coming out later this year. Add the recent price drop to $149 (which Sony QUICKLY did as well), and you get more and more people buying an Xbox.
When Xbox 2 and PS3 drop, I think it will be very interesting to see. Microsoft has promised the new Xbox will be much smaller with a more appealing design, and that the graphical power and multimedia capabilities of it will be astonishing. Oh yeah, Square Enix (makers of Final Fantasy series, which contributed highly to PS2 sales) are very impressed with the new Xbox. Seeing Final Fantasy games on the next Xbox is a very real possibility...AND PS2 does not own exclusive rights to GTA anymore. Xbox 2 vs PS3 will be very interesting indeed....

My brother has a PS2, I have to say that I don't feel any urge to buy any of the consoles at the moment really. Since SEGA have stopped consoles there is a big hole in the market. Neither the PS2, X Box or Gamecube has the right mix of standout games to make me wanna buy any of them. I say SEGA need to make another console, because I for one would buy that within a second of it being launched.

its not really that im aloyal fan. if a better system came out i would have bought it, but none did.
my friend had an xbox (RIP). i played it at his house like 5 times. i hated it. the controller (even the small one) was horrific. Thats why now his xbox sits inside a tv cabinet, never to be turned on again. The big one was aweful and the small one was just as bad. I hated the design of it. I also hated the design of the xbox even more. it was big, loud, ugly.
and no the pc isnt only better looking with a top of the line vid card. i have a mid range card, and playing kotor and morrowind on my pc looks so much better then the xbox

i had already beat Kotor, GTA VC (ps2) and Halo months before they even showed up on pc...let alone i would have missed ninja gaiden and a few other games that the xbox has, that no other system has

100 times? No it's not. It's grown nearly proportional to the population growth around the world since the 80's. There are atari games all over the fucking place. I sell used video games, my brother and I collect them; and there's no way you can tell me that the PS2 has outsold say, the Atari 2600 in terms of videogames, or fuck, I'd doubt even systems. Videogames have always been huge, and they're still huge.
