Veteran rapper LL Cool J will return later this summer with his next studio album, "THE DEFinition." Due Aug. 3 via Def Jam, the set is led by the Timbaland-produced single "Headsprung," which recently hit No. 3 on Billboard's Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
The cut sports a vaguely Middle Eastern vibe not unlike the Timbaland-produced Missy Elliott smash, "Get Ur Freak On."
"THE DEFinition" is the follow-up to 2002's "10," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 964,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned the rapper's biggest hit in six years, "Luv U Better," which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. LL Cool J will perform live Saturday (June 19) at Baltimore's African American Heritage Festival, as part of a three-day lineup that also features Kanye West, Anthony Hamilton, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Cee-Lo and Gerald Levert.
The rapper will be seen in several upcoming films, including the crime drama "Mindhunters," the gang-themed "Slow Burn" and "Edison," which will feature the big-screen debut of 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake.
