yo man, I just started playin online like a month or so ago, and as far as I know there was no charge for me to play, and I was playin alot... and as for the lag, as long as you have high speed your good to go... just make sure you go against someone that has a good connection, and then your set... it's hella fun man...

ther's lag in some games...like socom has pretty bad lag others aren't so bad
voice communication is supported in some games....it should say on the back of the box
some games are free, everquest adventures and FFVI isn't
and i don't know about burnt games

can someone name some dope upcoming online games for the ps2 besides the EA ones
-
its just like playing on your pc. You gotta find a room where there is all cable people (low ping room) and you yourself must have cable internet for no lag to be there.
Also the only games that require a fee are mmorpg, which are like Final fantasy XI and Everquest. everything else is free. Voice communicating does work on the ps2 but only for games that optimize it. Basically every game i know of uses it except for Residents Evil outbreak.
i myself never got into ps2 online because i like playing online games on my pc.
