Ok first of all. I know nothing about cars. Second. I know nothing about car audio.
with that said. I wanna get a system for my car, but i dont know what is the best. I was thinking about getting 2x12s or maybe 2x10s. but i dont know what brand is the best. also what kinda of amp should i look for. thanks in advance
-
where's Craiga?
My personal favorite brand for subs is SoundStream. But it all depends on how much you wanna spend. MTX makes pretty good subs for their price.
As far as AMPS, I've had good experience with Kenwood. Clarion amps suck nuts.
-
budget?
-
well im not sure because i dont know what kind of range that a whole system would cost.
i want a good quality but i dont wanna spend top dollar.
not knowing prices of this stuff im gonna say around $250? but if it costs more ill save up some more cash.
-
unless you want stuff that's stolen, you're gonna need a LOT more than $250
A wiring kit alone is like 50 bucks.
If I were to replace my system, It would cost approx. $2,500.00, but since it's mostly stolen stuff, I got it all for $500.00
-
dam im not talking about a huge system like that.
and btw, do i have to buy a new reciever radio thing or can i just keep the one i got.
-
Move this to the Flossin' board!
-
My personal favs are diamond audio, eclipse, JL W7s, Focal .Go with 2 12"s. You need a good amp to power these subs cuz you can just throw any amp with any sub. They should be in the same Class. Or you will have a shitty sounding system.
-
search online. The sell eclipses at alot of high end audio stores. NOT CIRCUIT CITY Or BEST BUY.
-
Has anyone installed their own system? just wondering if its difficult for a person whos never done it. cuz it costs lots o money for installation.
i got a car audio shop by my house. They sell JL, Alpine, and Kickers. Any of those good?
-
yeah i did my own one for my old car, which was a custom fit thing. i didnt go all out for bass as I wanted boot space.. i've transferred the same set up to my new car.. its alright inside, but ya dont hear much outside.
i've got two 8s mounted in a box that sits behind the seats, with an amp monted in the middle.
you'll have to read up and get ya head around it all..
(btw having trouble moving this topic to flossin, i dunno why..)
-
my fav is JL, amps and subs, if u want a sick system, get 2 W7s, but itll run u at like at 900, plus amp and wires.... or u can get like 2 w3s, and get a JL 500/1 amp. that wont be too much... ur gonna need to spend at least 500. dont buy bad shit.
-
yeah buy branded for sure... i've got rockford fosgate subs, and an alpine amp :)

ok im gonna have to wait till i get bout 600 bucks then ill buy a system.
-
if ya gonna get rockford subs get the Power HX
-
yo craiga, whats the best brand for speakers, or the top 3... i need some new 1s, and is it worth to get tweeters?
-
get front components. A good pair of components for cheap is infintys component set. Believe it of not the front speakers matter the most for treble and sound quality. People don't listen to me and go and put speakers in there rear deck. If you change fronts you will notice a GREAT increase in quality and loudness

i already have infinity kappas (non components) in the back, should i put components up front, will it sound good... i have an amp to power it

do you have to buy an amp to replace the stock speakers?
-
no. Go with front components in the front. You will be suprised how much louder it will be
-
Can anyone post a link to a pic or some info on some good front components? I'm looking at replacing my speakers as well...
