400 million in the box office for america only right?
its around that.
i personally dont think it will. while it might have a bigger opening i doubt that it will reach the overall record.

It's been gettin thumbs up, 5 stars, A+ from the movie reviewers. Im considering on catching the midnight sneak preview tonite....still debating.

yea i know its getting rave reviews and everyones saying better then the first, but i still dont think it can get as much money that the first one made,

Yes, and here's why. Spiderman 1 was a great movie... everyone who's seen it pretty much liked it or at least liked aspects of it, the special effects, etc. It has something for everybody, even girls, which is an elusive market with an action flick. That's why the spidey saga starts with the words "Like all good stories, this one is about a girl"... remember that?
It's Very, Very well done (which of course the spidey comic book was, too... so it's not just the screenwriters). So what you have is, a movie that doesn't really dissapoint.
However, not everybody knew this at first... like all blockbusters, the movie enjoyed huge success once it hit the rental market and the shelves at Wal-Mart... well, guess what? All the people that saw it then liked it too... as opposed to a half-ass movie that does well in the boxoffice, and does well on video, but half the people that see it didn't really enjoy it. Spiderman entertained about everyone who saw it.
As a result, all the people who saw the movie in the boxoffice, as WELL as all the people who only saw it on video, liked the movie... so they'll ALL be hyped up for the sequel; which means the box office numbers will be bigger this time around than they were before.

but this time there is more high hopes on Spider-Man 2 then there was ever on the first movie.
Higher hopes more chances it will disappoint
just having seen Spider-Man 2 this morning - it doesnt disappoint and is the best comic book movie ive ever seen
Sam Riami knows how to please the fans of the comic books but also the fans of his previous films
love the references to the evil dead
Bruce Campbell's cameo is great
and Doc Ock is one of the coolest villians to grace the screen since Nichlson's Joker

yea but im not doubting that its not gonna be way better then the first. i think 2 will blow 1 outta the water, but i just dont think they can get the kind of box office numbers that spiderman 1 got.

it got biggest opening weekend - a record which it still owns which is most impressive
spider-man 2 could very well prove to break that record with the reviews showering it with praise - i myself am not convinced it will break that particular record but will more likely beat Spider-Man's overall box office takings
