For instance:

lol------lots os laughs
lmao---laughin my ass off
wtf----what the fuck
sn-----screen name

help me out with more!

oh man I luv abreviations. me and my friends use them all the time when we talk. I have a lot more that I can't remember right now.

I think abbreviations suck, except if you're typing something long, and u're taking a while, so u just use a little bit to send your message as quickly as possible. All of this refers to Instant Messanging.

Some abbreviations are so widely used that i guess it's OK to use them, such as RSVP or ASAP or VIP and stuff like that.
