50 in GTA 5 news updated Tuesday, July 06 2004
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whispers and mutterings have reached the ever grinding RWD rumour mill that 50 Cent may be playing the leading role in the next game in the smash hit Grand Theft Auto series. Released in October, the next installment of GTA, which is one of the world's top selling computer games, is set in mid nineties West Coast America and is immersed in hip hop and gangland culture.
The character 50 is rumoured to be playing is Carl Johnson, an ex-con who returns to his home state (San Andreas, stupid) after serving five years in the Liberty City slammer (Liberty City is a fictional city from GTA3...). His mother has been killed, his family is falling apart and his childhood friends are going off the rails. Our hero is framed for murder by a couple of bent cops sending him on a journey across the whole of San Andreas as a wanted fugitive...
GTA: San Andreas is released in the UK October 22nd.

Could be true..
Rockstar often have big stars doing the voices, and rumours say that Ice Cube, 50 & Rick James will do some of the voices in the game.

Electronic Gaming Monthly said he isn't in it.

Electronic Gaming Monthly said he isn't in it.
Most sources says he doesn't do the music.
But no one, except Rockstar, knows who's doing the voices.

quote from egm... "... 50 Cent? Bullet-riddled rapper 50 Cent said in an interview that he'd be involved in the next GTA. Sorry, 50 Cent, but it's not your birthday---Rockstar tells us you have nothing to do with the sequel."

Why would you need to be "gangsta" to make music for a videogame.. LOL

Could be true..
Rick James will do some of the voices in the game.
He'll slap people and go "I'm Rick James Bitch!!"

In a gangsta type of game only gangsta rappers would make the music suit 2 the game, imagine playing GTA 5 & hearing U Not Like Me in the background, now imagine the same thing but with Eminems Without Me song in the background

I don't wanna wait til October damn it

why on earth would rockstar bother getting "famous" voices for the game. They spend tons of money to pay these actors/musicians to do the voices......but for what?
i played vice city, and i could give a shit that ray liota did the voice of tommy, didnt change the fun factor of the game, and didnt make it any better.
"O shit, ray liota is doing the voice of tommy vercetti, now i gotta buy this game"

Rockstar said that they do NOT want to sell games because someone famous is doing the voices.
But they want credible voices and often something specific, and some famous people got very good or special voices, for games or cartoons like Shrek, etc..
Why audition 100 people if they want a voice like Ray Liotta, when they can just call Ray Liotta himself..
It's not like Rockstar can't afford it, videogames are now a bigger industry than movies, and Rockstar have the 2 bestselling games ever in U.S.
-
I'm ready to bet that neither 50 or Em are in the game. It's just the rumor mill spinning.
-
Lil“ Jon should do the voices. 8)
-
GTA 5 needs to be straight westcoast G-Shit as far as music soundtrack.
-
Since you pretty much kill everyone when you play the game, maybe Brotha Lynch or Spice 1 would be a good fit for Carl Johnson. Otherwise MC Eiht always has a good west voice.
I can't wait to hear about "gaffling" again. 90s slang was classic.
