...off the shit that is placed in front of us. I know I sound like a real "Goodie Goodie" here but this is something I have been thinking of for the past few days so I thought fuck it, I'll post it up and see what ya'll think.
I was thinking that you turn on the tv these days and your likely to see an advert saying smoking can kill and shit, basically saying "Don't do it!".....but if this isn't the biggest contradiction ever....I and I am sure most of you can walk to your local shop and buy as many cigarettes as you want. Shit just makes me laugh really, if it was that important for us as a civilisation and as a race then we wouldn't even tolerate these things being produced nevermind distributed. My question is simple, Why are the things that will probably contribute to our death beds even available?????
Now sure, the right of choice comes into this. Its a person's choice whether they want to smoke or drink and whatever but as I have said, thats a person's choice. That isn't my point, my point is why do we see adverts and programs and statements and news reports and all that other shit warning us not to do these things when really if "they" didn't want us to do these things they would simply Ban the product(s).
I am sure that nowdays banning these products would probably result in an increase in product use because as with illegal drugs, people will be like "Oh lets do this, its illegal, where so cool!" but thats because we have left it far to late to actually start caring about whats around us and whats promoted to us. Example......
....I am 18 years old, 18 is the legal drinking age here in UK so of course now I am really starting to understand what drinking can do and what you should/shouldn't have. I live in quite a smallish town and in this town there are 10 major pubs, a few winebars and countless shops that sell liqor. Now for me to be preached to about the harm of drinking and what drinking all the time can do to me and then having to grow up in an area with all of these drinking facilities is the biggest contradiction on Earth. How am I and the thousands of other kids who are growing up now expected to not drink and smoke all the time when the ability for us to do it is right under are noses!
I am sure many other people here live in the same situation as me. Don't get me wrong I ain't no priest, I love nothing better than going out on the town or going to one of my local pubs to drink till I'm legless....but for then for me to be told that what I am doing will kill me just pisses me off you know? Its simple in my opinion, if this shit can and will kill us then why is it available everywhere you go? I can't turn on the tv without seeing an advert for beer.....to me this situation is just ridiculous.
In a perfect world there would be a Primie Minister or President or whatever who just stood up and said "Fuck it, from now on Cigarettes and Drinking is banned"........but this nowdays is impossible because the amount of people like myself who have grown up around "Beer adverts" around people who smoke, around pubs and clubs where the message is simple: Drink here and spend all of your money until your not in your right frame of mind anymore, is just ernormous. Why people actually need to spend their well earned money on smoking and drinking really amuses me. Not only are they spending their money on something that they don't get no benefit out of but they are also assisting to the early ending of their life.
I am 18 so a usual night for me now is to go out with my friends do a pub/club and drink.....but why is that the necessary thing to do at my age or at any age for that matter. If we have learned to accept the fact that after a solid weeks work everybody should wind down by drinking till they piss there pants then why can't we teach the future generation(s) that they are not going to grow up and live in the same methods. Why can't we teach the future generations that drink/smoking/drugs/shitty restaurant food/all other shit just isn't necessary. But until all of these places are closed down/banned its just not gunna happen.
Just put it this way, if every Mcdonalds/drinking facility in YOUR area closed down tommorrow then of course there would be an uproar about it. First of all the people who live off Mcdonalds/Burger King and all them other places would be upset because they can no longer fill there bodies with whole load of fat and toxins that go into your body with every bite of one of their burgers and then, the people who drink till their senseless would be pissed off because they can no longer poisen themselves.....BUT then you gotta think about your Childrens Children. They would grow up in a place where none of this shit is in their faces and therefore they would not even know about em. Instead of being "Lets go to Mcdonalds and then to the pub after work" it would be "Lets go to the salad bar and then to the cinema after work" or another leisurly activity that doesn't involve somebody killing their own bodies. Get me?
I just don't understand they way in which people live sometimes. We think that smoking and drinking and eating all this shite is good now when really it causes so many diseases and accounts for millions of deaths a year, yet its still available wherever you go. I don't understand why shit's just not banned, and all the buildings and places closed. Sure its there for us to bitch about now but in another 50 years time kids won't even know about it and therefore they won't have a need for it, as we do today. Right I have said what I needed to now discuss!

i dont wana read that. but i read the begining smoking thing, and smoking is the funiest thing ever. i mean DOCTORS smoke, and they should know everything about health, yet they smoke and kill their own, its kinda funny

Banning it wont solve anything. Prohabition anyone? you cant stop someting. cocaine has been illegal since the early 1900's and people are still using today in 2004. Just because it kills you doesnt mean it should be banned. i had a friend die in a car crash, does this mean cars should be banned and we all have to walk? You can die from anything.
People know smoking kills, but the thing is most people dont care (myself included). but i really dont plan on smoking for my whole life, so i doubt ill get lung cancer.

the main reason cigarettes aren't banned is because it helps the american economy. notice how other harmful drugs are illegal to use. why? because it helps other countrys' economies. hmmm... so why is marijuana illegal? well, because if it were legal then people would just grow it in their backyard and once again, it wouldn't be helping the american economy. basically it all comes down to money. c.r.e.a.m.

blablabla... tobacco can never me illegalized (is that a word?), i don't know the statisticzs for therest of the world, but here in norway, 2/5thss of the adult population smoke )(i'm guessing it's about the same in other countries( how the fuck are you gonna make a substance used by so many people illegal? Crime rate would blow up like a new-years rocket, smoking is tradition, latin indians smoked 10000 years ago...
drinking is good... as a matter of fact i had myselg some beers tonight... never felt better, if i'm gonna die when i'm 75 insted of 86 bcause of my drinking and smoking, i don't care, as long as i can enjoy it in peace from all fuckin' Gro Harlem Brundtlands and Dagfinn Høybraatens in the world i don't give a flying fuckin shit...
i'll probably delete this tomorrow, cause as most know, alcohol makes the spelling fukk up :P but it's so fuckin good, and gives a better "high" then any drugs (belive me, i know)!!

I only put a tad of tobacco, not like half tobacco or some shit maybe a 1/4 of it or less is tobacco. That being said, I also smoke cigs so it don't really matter to me. If I'm smoking weed(or hash), thats what I want to smoke, not tobacco. Also when I'm high I stay away from cigs cause they kill my high like crazy....same with lying down, eating, and a whole slew of other shit that never used to effect the high. The only times I can sustain a high and do whatever is when I bike for like 20 minutes smoking weed before and taking a break during biking to smoke then it's like when I first started and damn is it ever good, can barely keep a straight face.

You understand what I'm saying though. I am no way against shutting down all pubs and places like that I was just making a simple point that if the people who make the money on these products cared more for our health than the money going in their pockets then shit would simply be banned.
My point is that this shit has been proved to be bad for us yet there are still thousands upon thousands of places that sell it....and its legal. As I said I aint against the fact of selling cigarettes or alachol but I wish adverts and people bitching about the damage it will do to us will stop!!!!! If the damage was that bad then the substances wouldnt be available so easy.
and Mygla......your saying you would rather drink and smoke all your life and die at like 75 than not drink and smoke all your life and die at like 100. That to me is strange.....I have no real criticism against your opinion but I hope to be on this Earth for as long as I can.
