Im Wonderin

I think i read on aftermathmusic.com that he did go platinum.
-
That's a surprise, that album was a huge disappointment. They could have easily dropped a Hittman album and been as successful as Obie Trice.
-
yea he went platinum...i thought the album was better than such releases as beg for mercy, the hunger for more, and i'm sure it'll run laps around that buck album when it drops, peace.

I always like to head here to check out gold/platinum shit.

he isn't listed platinum yet, but was certifed gold on 12/09/03.

his latest single "don't come down" which was released awhile ago got no airtime which is disappointing considering it was a real dope track, peace.

Yeah, I was wondering how ''Don't Come Down'' was received in the States. Here in the UK I'm pretty sure that it didn't appear on any of the major music video channels. Its bizarre because ''Got Some Teeth'' was listed and shown on so many music channels, ''Set Up'' made a few but nowhere near as many, and ''Don't Come Down'' didn't get any airplay. The only way I saw the video was by streaming it on MTV.com. I think the execs behind the album really screwed up by picking ''The Set Up'' as the second single: to most people, myself included, it was one of the weaker tracks on the CD. I can see why label workers who had no real knowledge of the music may pick it (Dre production + Nate chorus = $$$) but if they wanted to go that route they should've picked ''Look In My Eyes'' which is, to me, a far superior cut. By picking ''Don't Come Down'' as the third single the album's fate was pretty well sealed. Yes, its a great track and I really like it, but it was never going to be accepted by a mainstream audience. And to be honest, a commercial third single was really what Obie needed as a last ditch attempt to shift some more units. What annoys me even more, is that a single like "Oh!'' or ''Lady'' (it has Em on it - what more would he need to get airplay!?) could have really boosted sales. I really hope his second album fares better in the charts.

That database is not updated all that often and when it is, it's only a half-ass update. The new D12 has definitely hit platinum but they don't even have it listed as gold yet.
As for the album, it was good (better than the D12 album, imo) but the first two singles were weak. "Got Some Teeth" still got decent radio and TV play though.

Yeah, that list isn't much updated.. everything RIAA does is half-assed or two-faced..

Billboard.com usually lists album when they go gold/platinum

Aftermathmusic.com:
Are you happy with the sales of your album?
Obie Trice:
Yeah, I´m happy. I´m the 1st black platinum artist in Detroit, solo artist in Detroit. You know, I´m the 1st black solo MC from Detroit. I didnt do the 50 Cent sales but hey ... i got a long career, i´m still young and I´m trying to bring really good music.

his album was ok..
-
obie trice's album was pretty solid...wodner how long we'll have to wait for his second album =/

I've read somewhere that Obie's next album is coming at the top of 2005, which suggests that it will probably come out after Em's next record.
