Well i was looking around on the internet, and to my surprise Doom 3 is out. Ill play it and then tell you guys if its good.
ill also post some ingame screenshots with my computer specs.

i dont think it will work. I believe its in stores tomorrow, but it was leaked onto the internet yesterday.

I have a pretty good comp for games, but my video card (9200 SE) can't run a game like Doom III. I'm betting you need at least 2 ghz, 512 ram, and a 128mb video card (one of the newer ones).
I'm waitin for the Xbox version...same with Half Life 2.

Basically, IMO, anything under a radeon 9800 (or 9600 xt) or a geforce 5600 will work like absolute shit...or will be too bad to even wanna try to play it.
I been thinkin of upgrading to a 9600 xt for Far Cry and Doom III...need the job to get the money to pay for it tho.

Before i started the game i assumed this game would be a senseless shooter, with no objective, but to just kill and get to the end of the level. It turns out i was right, but thats not always a bad thing. Basically in Doom 3 they give you a basic story plot, which is these little demom heads are turning everyone on mars into demons, and for some odd reason they didnt get to you. So basically, your just running through each beautiful level going on a killing spree. I myself, am not a fan of senseless shooter, but i know alot of people like tis kind of game.

The graphics are top notch, best ive ever seen, even on low setting the game still kicks ass. Good lighting effects, and well made envirements. The sound is also exceptional. Realistic weapon sounds, and envirement sounds. The music is awesome for this type of game. The game gets kind of freaky when the lights shut off and you hear some zombie voice, with some messed up music in the backround.
This game is more of a person by person to see who'd like it. If your into stunning visuals and shoot 'em up games, then this is the game for you. But for me personally i think the game is extremely boring. All you do is run around through hallways killing the exact same monsters, trying to find keycards to open doors to do the same thing again.
Graphics: 9/10
Sound: 9/10
Fun Factor: 6/10

Doom is a very unique game. Half of the people who play it think its boring, and the other half think its a genius game. Its person by person. However there is no denying its graphic beauty.
I downloaded it off of bittorrent. Im sure you could get it off irc, the correct version of doom is called "Reloaded." thats the working version.

The Doom series is a no-brainer, it's all about guns, gore and horror.. it's not Command & Conquer or Sims or one of those cutie games..

Most likely.
I don't care much for Doom either, but I'll give it a shot anyway. (Just got some new hardware on my computer I need to "test". ;D) I can see how revolutionary the original was from a technical point of view, but I also prefer games to have a decent plot as well.

I got the REALOADED version of the game, I understand that's the real one right? (rld-d3a.bin, rld-d3b.bin, rld-d3c.bin, rld-d3a.cue, rld-d3b.cue, rld-d3c.cue)
I burned the images on CD's but the muthafuckas don't work! I get a message saying the discs are corrupted or not compatible with Windows. I also tried it with Daemon Tools (a virtual CD/DVD drive you can mount image files to) but it gives me the same message. I can't browse the CD contents or anything. Somebody have a clue what I could do or did I just waste 3 CD's?

both releases work, one you need to burn using clone cd one you don't (the one that came with the crack, keygen, and cheats is the one you don't need to burn with clone cd)
try bit torrent, those torrents should be fast, tons and tons of people on them.

Try this. Open the cue sheet for the first Cd in notepad, and make sure it says this....
FILE "RLD-D3A.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
if it does...then makes sure the bin file name is the EXACT same name as the name INSIDE the cue sheet like my example above.
I have a Radeon 9600. I love this card.
btw, If you go to microsoft.com they have released DIRECTX 9.0c
So if you want to get some extra performance go download that.

Yep, it says that and all the filenames match... I don't think I could've even burned 'em on CD's if they didn't match. Thanks for trying though.

just the regular 9600.
honestly, i wouldnt even waste the extra bucks on the Se, XT, or whatever. For the amount of extra money youd pay its nto worth it.
ive been playing doom on medium setting (could go high by why bother it looks good on medium) and it runs extremly smooth no lag. Its really a very good video card.
and it had tons of rebates so i got it for a steal.

just a note about the gameplay...
altho scary in places... the original doom really excelled in deathmatch.. so much so that it the words deathmatch which it was first to use are still being used later on.
i remember playing doom (and doom 2) LAN games for days on end about 10 years ago when i was at college.
i used to be a really really good glquakeworld player... i've not played for 5+ years tho

I'm trying the torrent, but it's not exactly superfast. At this speed I'll be done in mere 200 hours. ::) Or do you know of a better torrent?

DC++ didn't work well for me...noone ever shared their stuff with me, which pissed me off. The only program I have to download shit off is LimeWire...which is decent if you can find a file w/ enough people sharing it.

I have a Athlon 2000+, 512MB Ram, and a 9800 Radeon PRO gfx-card, but I have to play it on 1024x768 and medium graphics to play it without lag.. :-\
Guess I gotta invest in more RAM and a better CPU to get more out of it..

I say your ram is just fine, but your processor might be lagging it a bit (it is one of those super games).

Your ram is pretty good. (id recommend getting at least 768mb ram total)
but out of everything its your cpu.

The Doom movie has been in the making for YEARS.
Still haven't been able to get the game to work though. I've downloaded the damn thig from a million plaves now, still the same thing, "corrupted disc". Guess I gotta settle for Far Cry for now. And I haven't played Splinter Cell 2 yet either... That should keep me busy until Half-Life 2 & GTA San Andreas.
