Devin - Just Tryin Ta Live...
even Snoop won't touch this... I enjoy this album more than any I've heard so far... the feel of this album is classic... and it won't get any respect , at least respect it deserves... too many joints on this album really give you that feeling... my favorite song off the album is
"just trying ta live"

Thats my favourite song on there too, but the album as a whole didn't quite turn out the way i thought it would.........i think Devin has huge potential to be a commercial success, but there is no song on there that is capable of taking him there though..........however, the album is most def. dope. IMO though, it does not touch NAs' Lost Tapes.......BPG, i know you a big Nas fan, you need to peep that!
-
I rated the five albums I got so far this year in some other thread.
The Lost Tapes is the best so far. Just Tryin' To Live is dope too.

yeah this album is really dope. Probably the best I have heard this year. Under the influence is very good too. Devin's album is very solid, I recommend everyone buy it.
-
top 5 for me now are probably...
Blackalicious - Nia
Nas - Lost Tapes
Non-Phixion - The Future Is Now
K-Os - Exit
Jurassic 5 - Power In Numbers
-
"The Eminem Show"...PeACe
-
So far, Lost Tapes is the best this year. Eminem is a close second..........however, we still have Bone dropping this month, and God's Son and the new Pac album are slated to come out in November.
-
and Crooked I
-
SO FAR I believe the best are..
1. Tech N9ne - Absolute Power
2. Eminem - The Eminem Show
...most of the good shit hasn't come out yet (if it comes out in 2002)
1. Snoop - Paid the cost
2. Bone Thugs N Harmony - Thug world order
3. 2Pac - Untitled
4. Nas - God's son
5. Jay Z - Blueprint 2
6. Crooked I - Say hi to the bad guy
7. Rakim - Oh my God
-
The best hip hop album in my opinion is The Eminem Show.Eminem's lyrical content and his flow can't be touched by any rapper out there right now.I know a lot of you don't like to hear that but it's true, period end of discussion!!

wc...even though i aint heard it...rght now id hav to say Under the Influence

"Just Tryin To Live" was a bit of a disappointment IMO. Dont get me wrong-I love it..but its not the album of the year. (And please..I dont wanna hear anymore about Lost Tapes being album of the year--first off-its mediocre second, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY most of it was recorded YEARS ago). Anyways-I thought "The Dude" and a lot of his unreleased ish was better.

wc...even though i aint heard it...
You really think so?
I thought the W.C. sampler was kinda average..
-
Scarface - The Fix
Honorable mention: AZ - Aziatic
-
Mine is Face's "The Fix" too (suprised only one other person has mentioned that so far).
-
my top 5 gotta b
The Relativez - Takeover
Az - Aziatic
Nas - The Lost Tapes (although id heard most of the ish it still sounded nice and fresh)
Scarface - The Fix
Lil Flip - Undaground Legend
-

First of all, I'd say it's a FACT that this album is a lot better than mediocre.
second, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY most of it was recorded YEARS ago.
Secondly, what the hell does it matter when it was recorded, I.N.I.'s "Center Of Attention" was recorded around 95-96 and was released this year too (U.K. only I believe). You gonna take something away from these albums cause the tracks weren't released the same year it was made?
-
01. Daz - This Life I Lead
02. Paul Wall & Chamillion - Get Ya Mind Correct
03. TechN9ne - Absolute Power
04. Relativez - Takeover
05. SQ - S.Q.U.A.D. Up
06. DJ Quik - Under Tha Influence
07. AZ - Aziatic
08. Lil Flip - Underground Legend
09. Brotha Lynch & Doomsday - Plague
10. Pastor Troy - Universal Soldier
the fix and just tryin ta live hurt me...theyre not what i expected from face or devin....face has made better and devin has made much better....thank god Paul Wall, Chamill and Flip held down houston correctly
-
Word C2, that INI album is INCREDIBLE.......Pete Rock laced some nice beats on there for real.
Its kind of crazy, but three of my top 5 album this year are old ones, those being Lost Tapes, INI, and the King Tee album.......these are the only three albums put out this year(besides the FIX) that i can listen to all the way through front to back..
King Suge, since you hate Lost Tapes so much(have u even heard it?), what is your album of the year, that JAy Z single with BEyonce?
-
WC-Ghetto Heismen
-
the lost tapes is easily the best cd of the year
-
so far i'd say the best albums are "Lost Tapes" and "The Fix"...
But i can't wait for Ras's album, i think it could be the suprise best album of the year and Bones new album.
-
So far IMO
BLACKALICIOUS- BLAZING ARROW
-

So your beliefs are facts while mine are opinion. Okay-youve already lost some respect.
And my point about the album is that an album recorded in 97 CAN NOT be 2002 AOTY. That's all--relax, bucko. Plus-its not like it matters..Lost Tapes=AOTY material? LMAO!!!

Okay, it obviously can't by a fact, but it just sounds silly when someone who probably hasn't even listened to the album calls it mediocre. Everyone has got their own taste and thier own opinion, it's just weird when I hear someone say something like this. To me it's the same as saying Nas isn't an emcee or someone saying that Aquemini is not a good album. I just can't comprehend someone who loves hip-hop thinking like this.
I wish that I could laugh too if I heard that The Lost Tapes was good enough for album of the year thus far, cause that would probably make this the greatest year for hip-hop ever.

"Xzibit" & "Face" dopest reply value in My ish...
Not saying other shit wasn't dope, but this is all you need this year.ImO
