Title: The production on 213 is actually quite solid, if you ask me...
Post by: Nima - Dubcnn.com on August 18, 2004, 11:38:10 PM
I believe that if alot of these beats simply had the name Warren G on them, alot of us would like them. its just the fact that the producer of the group not getting to produce that makes us hate this.

really, i just listened to it for the first time, and it's a solid album. too many songs about hoes. nate is very good on it. warren has his ups and downs, overall ok. snoop is ok too, he has his moments but overall it looks like he has ran out of stuff to talk about really. he should retire.. he doenst have anything left to say! and his life isnt interesting enough to the average listener for him to keep talki g about it,.. we all know his rich hes a player hes great. sick of hearing him say it. because hes not even creative at it lol. some1 like too short could tell u hes a pimp for 20 years and its still entertaining.

but the production is solid... cant hate on that. kinda weird they kept So Fly... and lol@ them keeping the "Welcome 2 The Chuuuch Vol 2! Exlusive 213" part LOL.

True. I think the album is a solid 3.5/5, 7/10, C+ (even though you might not think those ratings go together). Many of the beats were definitely solid, but it is still suspect that Warren, Dre, Fred Wreck, and Meech Wells didn't do any beats.

I agree that the production is pretty solid on all the tracks I've heard, it amintains the same level throughout. BUT, I think that the production should've been better. There's nothing there to get excited about. DJ Pooh laid a nice track though, I like that one. But the rest I've heard has been a let down. Even Kanye fell way short from his own albums level I think. And Battlecats beat, although it's nice, isn't anything to write home about either. It sounds like I've heard it a dozen times before.

If these beats had the name Warren G on them, I would say he fell off like a muthafucka...

I agree with you on this one. The Hard Way is actually one of my favorite albums this year so far which says a lot about the current state of hip hop cause we all know it could have been 10 times better.

yeah that was kinda cheap :-\

To Tha Extreme > The Hard Way without a doubt in my mind.  Hell, Devin's catalog is starting to look better than Snoop's.

Mase is the Future:  man, some of the shit you say is ridiculous.  I like mase too man, but you are going a little overboard, its pathetic.  Again, mase' new album is dope, i am glad u feel it, but i got a feeiling you'd like it even if it was wack.  And the new 213 album is much better than mase's second lp, although that album had a few good cuts and is better than some think.

I dont mind the production on here, there are a couple standouts to say the least.  Hitek drops perhaps the hottest beat, that Appreciation is definitely some warren g type g funk,  So Fly is a tight beat despite missy having produced it (its not like she raps and ruins the song like the knoc song she was on),  Absolutely is a BANGER,  Run up on you or whatever its called is mad dope,  MLK is Battlecats best production in a while,   some of the other songs are alright, some are horrible (gangster click, lil girl)...................as for Snoop, he isnt rapping all slow and shit, he sounds pretty good, ive definitely heard him much worse, nate doesnt really shine like i thought he would, MAYBE ITS BECAUSE NATE IS OVEREXPOSED NOWADAYS AND I AM FINALLY GETTING A BIT SICK OF HIM.  I mean,  he is still incredible, but he never blows me away anymore.  AS for warren, he sounds pretty good, but i miss the old flow of his first two albums, not this jacked Dre-like flow he is using right now to try to become relevant in todays commercial rap market.

As for dickriders, that is a term that is getting fucking played out.  VEry few of us so called snoop dickriders have said this album is great, most find it an enjoyable listen with obvious flaws.  Its the Snoop "haters" that sound pathetic, saying this album is as bad as Game is to be Sold, not told and shit like that.  Yeah, i am disappointed in this album, but albums nowadays are rarely complete and solid all the way through, and that is why albums like Kanye's and Masta Ace's are so appreciated in my mind.
