... and it was exactly what I expected. I went into the movie knowing full well that it cannot surpass the first, but expected a solid storyline, and I wasn't disappointed.
The first hour of the movie was building up the storyline, and the last 30-45 minutes started getting very bloody and ummm, possessed. There was very cheap use of CGI effects that lead to some cheesy scenes, and the blood in this movie... wow, it pretty much beats Passion of the Christ.
As far as the possession scene goes (not a spoiler, you all know it was gonna happen), I wasn't disappointed. When you see it, it'll somewhat remind you of the first movie, as the director tried to match its shock value. Either you'll be reacting in one of these threee fashions: 1) they kept true to the 1st Exorcist, 2) it's already been done or 3) they exaggerated. Just to say that if you're expecting possession in this movie, you'll get it.
But personally, the more shocking scenes in this movie weren't those of demons and possessions, but rather the acts of humans (you'll understand when you see it).
I think the best way to sum up this movie is by using the 213 album as an analogy. Those who expected '94 G-Funk from the album were really disappointed, and those who have an open mind and accept that things change over time learned to appreciate the album. You figure it out.

Good review, I might check it out now, but I read some real shit reviews about it.

I'm not too excited to see this, but I'll see it tomorrow anyways...It's a Hollywood version of Paul Schrader's original cut...Too bad it had to be re-directed...Can't wait for the Paul Schrader version to be released though.

im not even going to bother renting it.
I never got what anyone saw in the first movie.
1. It was not scary
2. It was boring
3. It was so fake that it was almost funny.

It's called realism. For sure you can go out and watch Spiderman 2, it has some nice special effects...

^^ what does that have to do with anything i said.

i agree with rampant the first one wasn't that scary...but it was a real good movie.

The 1st Exorcist was well made, but the times are different. That movie back in the 70's scared the shit out of the audience. Now your lucky if that movie scares a 5 year old.

How the hell can a movie be scary?
-
Actually, I just saw this, and let me tell you, it was better than I expected...It wasn't as "Hollywood" as all the reviews said; they made it out to be some "Dawn of the Dead (2004)" shit...I was expecting a real piece of shit movie, and it actually was a fun film to watch...Still can't wait for the Paul Schrader version though.
