Ray "Big Bossman" Traylor passes away
By JASON CLEVETT -- SLAM! Wrestling
The Big Bossman faces "The Mountie" Jacques Rougeau in 1991. -- Sun Files
Ray Traylor, best known for his run in the WWF as The Big Boss Man, passed away September 22, according to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer.
According to the site, Traylor, 42, had not been complaining of any pain recently other then a bad knee. His wife found him not breathing, and paramedics could not revive him.
Virginia promoter Marvin Ward, who had scheduled Traylor with Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton for an Oct. 30 show in Waynesboro, Va., said he was stunned by the news.
"This is just tragic," said Ward, who had talked to Traylor within the last few days and spoke with Condrey and Traylor's representatives again Thurday morning.
As they described the picture to him, Traylor and his family were visiting with his sister at his home in Dallas, Ga. Wednesday night. Traylor's two daughters went upstairs to play, while his wife Debbie briefly left the room at about 10 p.m., and returned to find him on the sofa. "It was apparently that quick," Ward said. "Everybody is just in shock."
Traylor began his career in 1986 as Jim Cornette's bodyguard Big Bubba Rogers. His career saw him perform in WWE, WCW and All Japan Wrestling, and he has competed as The Big Boss Man, The Boss, The Guardian Angel, War Machine, and under his real name and he teamed with Akeem in the late '80s as 'The Twin Towers.' At 6-foot-6, 330 pounds, he was a legitimate Twin Tower.
He had high profile feuds with Hulk Hogan, Ted Dibiase, Nailz, The Heenan Family, Vader, Al Snow, and many others. His last major run was with the WWF in 1998-99 as a part of the Corporation.
Bossman's feud with "The Mountie" Jacques Rougeau culminated in the Canadian spending a night in jail after a loss. Rougeau remembers the time fondly. "It was one of the greatest moments of my career. No matter how bad the situation looked like when I was put in jail with that big 400-pound, 7-foot guy, the Mountie always gets his man!" said Rougeau.
Traylor was indeed a prison guard in Cobb County, Georgia before turning to wrestling.

damn this look VERY bad for professional wrestling. A lot of wrestlers who were big in the late 80's early 90's are dropping like flies. It was road warrior hawk that died last if im correct. A shame none the less, i gre up watching bossman. Any1 remember the summer slam match, night stick on a poll match against nailz lol.

42 is waaaaaaaay too young. RIP Ray Traylor. Like Tom said, these guys are dying so rapidly.
-

My Favorite Bossman Moment: when he was running towards the ring & doink the clown put a fishwire in between the aisle where the wrestlers enter and he tripped....Boy was that funny back then, and still kinda is..........he will forever be a wrestling Icon.....RIP

"did he die???"
yes Crash Holly died , and overdose on pain killers.
man I just remembered a couple more wrestlers who have passed before their time:
-Brian Pillman (don't know if anyone here remembers the guy , but if u don't it's a shame)
-Yokozuna
from what I've heard Bossman was also a very nice guy who did a lot charity work organising golf tournaments , auctions and the works , shame just a shame
-
RIP to Bossman :(
Pillman and Rick Rude both passed away within the last few years too, to add to the list.

Yeah, one more of my favorites gone. Man, when Kurt Hennig died, it almost killed me, man I was such a big fan. The last televised match he had, I saw... it was on NWA:TNA wrestling, he wrestled David Flair... he was in the ring and said that David Flair wasn't half the man his dad was, and that he wouldn't even put his wrestling gear on for him, so he wrestled David Flair in blue jeans and cowboy boots, and beat his ASS, he even hit his "Perfect Plex" on him.
Sucks though, Ray Traylor was a great guy by all accounts I've read.
In related news, there's a bunch of sick wrestlers, too... for instance, Superstar Billy Graham I believe needs a liver transplant (although he was on smackdown and looked great)... Mean Gene Okerland is waiting on a kidney transplant (man, we he dies, I will too)... and Bobby the Brain Heenan is recovering from throat cancer. Crazy.
-
Damn, and I thought rappers were dropping like flys...
-
"and Bobby the Brain Heenan is recovering from throat cancer. Crazy."
yeah he didn't look too good at the hall of fame ceremony at WM 20 , I hope he makes it, he's one of the all time great managers back when managers ment something.
-
Bobby's fine... the cancer is either in remission or was removed... that appearance was AFTER all that went down... his main thing is he's lost a ton of weight, so he looks bad, but apparently he's pretty healthy and doing well. His voice is slurred, tragically, though.
-
Bret Hart's condition is pretty tragic as well.
