SCC been around a lot longer than mobb deep.

yep SCC was the first to take their name , but i don't know if Mobb deep have take it or if it's just the hazard !!

i guess that name got its origin - and its inspired SOMEHOW, probably not by themselves - not by any rappers
inspired by something else...
i mean, to reduce the problem to a more common name: lil' <put name in here>
like lil jon, halfdead, whatever...
1) you are small
2) you got a brother/father that goes by the same name as you
=> ppl will call you lil' plus name
and if they call you that for a long time you get used to it
or its even your streetname
and after lots of years you discover someone else got the same name
would you want to change that name if you havent got an alternative nickname yet???
i dont think so....
i mean you get successful and with the same step you change your name
and everybody you could impress is asking "who is that? never heard of him"...
well, this would suck
and SCC was there before Mobb deep - but they wasnt that successful
i think if one of them two (mobb deep) would've gone by the name of "snoop doggy dogg" they wouldve reconsidered if they wouldnt want to change that name, since it would like they are fans or even biters - nobody wouldve taken them seriously i guees

^^ Yeah, and it's not like it's a recognition problem..
Havoc of Mobb Deep never released a solo, and when Prodigy did, the album was clearly labeled "Prodigy of Mobb Deep"
Pretty sure Havoc's upcoming solo CD will be named "Havoc of Mobb Deep" as well.

it's just scary how both groups have the same names for the members. But in the end, we all know who is who.
