It's not official yet. This report was leaked by the pistons play by play announcer who has "sources" lol. I suspect it's probably true, but it has not been confirmed.

Why does Stephen Jackson get less than Ron Artest, when Ron Artest was just retaliating and Stephen Jackson was throwing punches because he thought it was a free for all?

Both Jackson and Oneal should get at least 40 games, while artest should get 20 games.  Wallace deserves more than 5

Okay I changed my mind, artest was asking for some time off 30 games is basically what he wanted lol ....he shoudl just get the whole season off including playoffs, fined by the leauge and the team should fine him.

very good suspensions imo. almost exactly like I wished. this well teach them pacer all-stars some manners, while it's good to have the greatest hustler in the NBA back on court again soon.

that's pretty hard. and what about wallace? none? LoL, would be hilarious.

seriously, if Ron is suspended for all season long and O'neal for like half of the rest of it, Pacers will struggle when if comes to making the play-offs.  :-X

NBA Announces Suspensions From
Pistons-Pacers Game
NEW YORK, Nov. 21 -- The following suspensions were announced today by NBA Commissioner David Stern, resulting from the events during the Indiana Pacers at Detroit Pistons game on Nov. 19.

# Pacers forward Ron Artest has been suspended for the remainder of the season.
# Indiana guard Stephen Jackson has been suspended for 30 games.
# Pacers forward Jermaine O’Neal has been suspended for 25 games.
# Indiana guard Anthony Johnson has been suspended for five games.
# Detroit forward/center Ben Wallace has been suspended for six games.

# Pistons forwards Elden Campbell and Derrick Coleman and guard Chauncey Billups have each been suspended for one game for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.
# Indiana guard Reggie Miller has been suspended for one game for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.

In announcing today’s actions Commissioner David Stern issued the following statement:

“The penalties issued today deal only with one aspect of this incident – that of player misconduct. The actions of the players involved wildly exceeded the professionalism and self-control that should fairly be expected from NBA players. We must affirm that the NBA will strive to exemplify the best that can be offered by professional sports, and not allow our sport to be debased by what seem to be declining expectations for behavior of fans and athletes alike.

“There are other issues that the NBA must urgently focus on at this time. First, we must redefine the bounds of acceptable conduct for fans attending our games and resolve to permanently exclude those who overstep those bounds. Participants in and around the court must be assured complete protection from unacceptable fan behavior. Second, we must re-examine the adequacy of our current security procedures in Detroit and our other 28 arenas. The actions at Friday’s game, though unprecedented, must now be factored into all efforts to guarantee the well-being of our fans. Third, we must develop and implement new NBA rules to assure that the unavoidable confrontations likely to occur in the heat of competition are not allowed to escalate to the level we witnessed on Friday even prior to the egregious behavior by individuals in the stands.”

ben wallace should get 10 games, an how the fuck does reggie miller get a game.  I know your not supposed to leave the bench, but in a situation like that where he got off the bench to try an break it up, he shouldnt get a suspension.

they will most likely petition the NBA to see if they are allowed too.

shut the fuck up...the fans were assholes.

Another reason why NHL has to come back..it'll stop those Red Wings fans from going to the piston games

I dont like the suspensions at all. I mean Ben Wallace started it all, and it wasnt necessary (it was an hard faul, but not too hard, expecially for him). He did that shit to Artest. Then he trew something against him, while he was lying on the table. He just went crazy over nothing. They had to ban him for at least 10 games. Artest's ban is ok. Even if he just reacted to a fan throwing him shit. But fuck it, he was an NBA player, he should have let security handle it. Jackson's ban is ok. J.O'Neal's one is not ok. I mean he was on the court. Sure he punched that fat Pistons fan, but he was on the court, a place where that fat Piston fag shouldnt be. The others are minor ones, so who cares. But damn, this will be great promotion for Artest's career as a rap singer.

artest is not releasing a rap album.  He is the EP of a female RnB group called allure.

Correct, BUT he is also releasing his own album. Check his ESPN interview. He said fans will be aloud to download it coz he's not in it for the money, but now without pay for 72 games, he might wanna rethink that lol

$10 says the NBA will cut it short, ala Sprewell...

Wallace should get more? Why...Fights between players happen all the time in the NBA...It's not his fault that Artest is an idiot and decided to hit fans.

all is just right except for jackson he should have been banned for the season as well....this is exactly the message that stern and the NBA needed to send.....

Reason 1: He said in the press news: "I didnt start it". He aint admitting he did a wrong thing who started everything.
Reason 2: After they tried to squash the fight, he trew something against Artest, and continued to diss him. Unnecessary.
Reason 3: He's supposed to be the leader of the team, the player the kids watch and take as an example. The "hero". What an example!

He deserved 10.

I think they thought Jackson was just protecting a teammate. For sure it's wrong, and they gave a 30 games ban, but they understood him a little bit. Same with J.O'Neal.
