alright. I have a friend who's a really talented drummer. He's set to work with the DOC. And he said he's gon bring me along.
As far as I know. Doc is a legend in gangsta rap. etc. so i'm mad excited to see this cat.
Any of y'all got any info on him? pics? umm fav songs? I can't find his stuff in TOronto. I bought Heltah Skelta that's all i could find.
Any good questions for him too? that i could ask him nonchalantly.
-
No One Can Do It Better is my favourite mainstream album ever probably, well gangsta wise. Heltah Skeltah I think is kind of shitty.
Your lucky to be meeting him though man, hope you enjoy his company :)
fav songs... Its Funky Enough, Let The Bass Go, Lend me an Ear, and The Formula.. but his first album is all classic 100%.

I'm in Toronto too, his stuff is tough to find around here, you have to get his debut album though, No One Can Do It Better, I got it about 4 years ago, it's one of the best rap albums i've ever heard. He also came out with Deuce last year which showcases his protege 62. You could probably get both from hmv.ca, but www.cheap-cds.com would probably be cheaper, but takes longer to get here.

word
DOC is the shit...No One Can Do It Better is still one of my favorite albums of all time...your buddy is HELLA LUCKY!!!..legend right there
-
I love the whole album (No One Can Do It Better) especially The Formula. He was Snoops mentor, lyric wise during the making of The Chronic.
-
Too bad he cant yell and speak loud, he would of been one of the greatest or maybe he would of been a sell out-wack ass like snoop
-
^so maybe its better he can't.. still a shame though that he was in that accident...

Yeah, its defiently a shame too see a talanted rapper like him loose his voice, but i think The DOC would of took the same path as Snoop. So maybe its better that he doesnt do rap albums anymore(he still writes for people though) so his legacy woudnt be runined.
-
technically he was more talented than snoop, and knew more, so there'd be less of a chance of him taking snoop's path.. but its still good he stopped I guess..

Damn, I'm bumping the D.O.C. right now... definately one of my favorites. I always feel real sorry for the dude because he could have blown up real big and definately been a superstar -- I don't think that he would have "sold out."
Anyway, No One Can Do It Better is definately the one to get... the D.O.C.'s also on a couple N.W.A. albums... there's "Parental Disretion Iz Advised" offa "Straight Outta Compton", and he's also on a bunch of tracks on "N.W.A. and the Posse."
-
No One Can Do It Better was the shit. I bought that album used a few years back and DOC's talent blew me away. I wonder how far he could have gone had that accident not happened. He wrote most of the chronic so his legacy lived on in other ways.
-
The D.O.C iz fuckin tight! i even got that album he made on deathrow....it aint 2 great but D.O.C's a legend redardless.

I must ask...how the hell did you get in to Death Row's vaults? That shit has been locked up in there since he made it and never left.

DOC was poised to become one of hip-hop's biggest superstars before that car wreck crushed his larynx. He could ride those fast beats and still enunciate every syllable. Now he raps like Clearance "Frogman" Henry, except he's not meaning to be funny.
-
I noticed yesterday that the beat Dre did for "Guerilla Pimpin" off of the "Deuce" album sounds real damn close to the beat for "No One Can Do It Better" (the song)... "Deuce" wasn't all that bad.
-
This link will tell you every thing you have ever wanted to know, or possibly could know aoubt the DOC unless you are his momma.

dre didnt produced gorilla pimpin...check da credits in the vault for the real producer

Well, I hope this doesn't piss anybody off, but what the fuck.
The DOC was one of the best, and could have been the greatest ever, but so could a lot of people. A lot of being 'the man' is working your ass off, like Pac did. That's why he's the man, because he recorded 3 songs a day.
Anyways, The DOC tragically had an accident that crushed his voicebox, BUT... the real tragedy of that, is not that he lost his voice, but that he lost his will to be 'the man'. I think you know, that's probably a result of the accident, so I'm not gonna blame him totally.... BUT, even with his voicebox crushed, he still could have been the shit. We've all heard "Heltah Skeltah" and this guy could have had a gimmick that WOULD NOT FUCKING QUIT if he wanted to.
Instead, the Doc lays around drinking and not doing a damn thing, feelin' sorry for himself for years after the wreck, and ruined his career, imo.
Still one of the greatest ever, and maybe I'm just full of shit.
-
UPDATE:
Gonna meet DOC in 2 weeks. I'm gonna bring my cam, hopefully I can get a pic with him.
So if any DUBCC members got any questions for him, I'll see if I can slip them in.
I still can't fucking Find nobody can do it better. OR deuce. If any of y'all can hook up some songs, or anything. I'd be greatful. I wanna go in knowing as much as I can about him. Thanks.
-
D.O.C is a damn legend, and No One Can Do It Better is one of my alltime favorites. Just him & Dre makin magic together. Deuce was pretty tight as well.
Ask him if he still hang out with Dre occasionally, or what their relationship is like these days.
-
I loved Deuce. For some reason I never took the time to listen to No One Can Do It Better. It's on my computer for ages now ::)
-
both are dope.. i also love deuce.. esp gorilla pimpin and "the shit"

Ren rips it up.
And Mauzip, No One Can Do It Better is definitely worth the money to by yourself a real copy of it. I don't know about you but I never get as much out o flistening to mp3's on my computer as opposed to listening to shit in my discman or something.

My bad... figured it was the same dude 'cause it sounded real similar... thought that was a cool bit of continuity.
