I know it's too early to tell and almost impossible to predict right now, but if you could call out a number right now, how many units do you think Game realistically is gonna sell his first week comin out?
Let's see....I think 50 did 850 his first week, which broke Snoop's record for a new rap artist, maybe even for a new artist period, because he was somewhere around 700,000 if I'm not correct. I heard Snoop really sold over a million the first week but that a lot of sales didn't count to the billboard counter because of the retailers that sold it for whatever reason.
Snoop didn't really need much promotion because the Chronic was definitely enough to promote him, but the promotion and anticipation just helped even more. 50 technically wasn't a new artist, and many people around the country knew about him back in 99, but he was unknown the the mainstream. Right now, I don't think Game has as much anticipation as these two artists, although he does have a lot, and has a lot of promotion because of the money that Aftermath and them have invested into him.
The Black Wall Street website say that they expect him to sell about the same as 50 did in his first week. 50 had In the Club which became like the biggest song in years, and Snoop had "what's my name" which was after he had "Nothin but a G thang" which was arguably the biggest rap song in history. Game has "This is how we do" which is a fire track, but many people feel 50 outshined him on it, and many people think it is 50's single until they hear somebody say it's Game feat. 50.
So lookin at all that.....I personally think he is gonna do about 600,000. I would call out a range and say 600,000-750,000. If he does anything higher than that, I will be suprised in a good way. If he does anything under 500,000, I will be a bit dissapointed but that is still great compared to most new artists. If he does anything under 250,000, then I'll be pretty mad but still have hope that it will sell a lot in the future. Anything 150,000 and under is a complete flop, and I definitely don't expect that to happen.

Between 450,000 - 550,000 mostly because I don't like his music, and when that happens, they usually sell big numbers. But I honestly don't think he'll be as big as 50. I don't think Dre is getting his name out like they did 50's. All I heard before GRODT dropped was about 50 getting shot.

Yeah it is too early to tell, because there are a lot of variables to take into account like u said. This is How We Do, gets tons of air play out here in southern cali, and I hear it gets good radio play everywhere else so thats coo. The only thing is, a lot of people do think its a 50 song. That should all be cleared up after the video drops though so we'll see. Anybody know if they are dropping Higher before the album drops or are they gonna wait a week or so after the album drops?
BTW: Do you guys think 50 dropping his album a month after Game is a good thing, bad thing, or won't matter either way? At first I thought they should push 50 back to give Game some more time to shine, but this could turn out to be a coo little cross promotion. What do u guys think?
-
He'll do like 200,000 and then go Platinum. He has a street buzz now he just has to get some of the ladies because them and white kids be buying records like WHOA.
-
Dre must not think Game will sell many records his album got pushed back because of Em and now they are releasing 50's new album only a couple weeks after
-
you guys are funny thinkin he'll do 600,000 or 500,000.....he'll be lucky to even push anything close to 200,000. i say he'll do somethin like 100,000-150,000
-
yeah i think 150,000-250,000
-
as long as the album is good i dont care how many units he sells, but im thinking between 400,00 and 500,000.
-
they r not promoting him like theyr supposed to
dre aint spending much money on promoting him like he did with 50 in 2002 (5 mill promo budget)
not even like eminem back 1999 when was promoting him on mtv with snoop
-
I think he's going to do Lloyd Bank type of numbers...400K or more first week
-
Though I Dont Care For Numbers...He Should Be Satisfied If He Even Gets Number 1 On THe Charts Not Too New Artist Or Major Artist Are Doing Too Well (Lil' Jon, Chingy) And They Have Hits Already! But I Expect A Dope Album From Him! Nothing But Hot SHyt, I Mean He Actually Brought Some Life In A Weak Dre Track (Westside Story) He Really Made It Bangin With The Lyrics! Now Its An All Around Dope Song To Me But When I First Heard I Was Expecting Some "Still D.R.E", "The Next Episode" Type Shyt...

cant see him hittin 50's 1st week.em was talkin about 50 every where, games not really had that.
-
300,000

The thing is with some of these low predictions, between the 100-300 thousand mark (that isnt that low) is that I cannot see Dr. Dre's "protege" not even selling more than Lloyd Banks. Its just not concievable in my head because I dont think Dre would spend so much of his time working with Game just to end up with sub par to mediocre sales. Dr. Dre is at a point where he's become a money man, like it or not. Think of the embarrasment of his "protege" not doing well...thats why he dropped Hittman because he may have still liked him as an artist, but if he released an album we all know it wouldnt do well.
There is still 6 weeks to go till the album drops, so expect a barrage of promotion starting December 1st when the video hits. I think the mainstream is gonna catch on with Game's "gangsta" image, very similarly to 50 cent but probably not to that extent. My prediction for sales in the first week is probably same as R-Tistic's, anywhere between 500,000 to 700,000 possibly more.
The main reasoning behind this is in my first paragraph. Dre and Jimmy Iovine would not have gone this far with Game, labelling him Dre's protege if they believed he'd do sub-par to mediocre sales numbers.
-
He should debut at #1 cause there is really no competition in January and usually that is a slow month for album sales...Even 200,000 should be enough to debut at the top spot, but his single is really taking off especially here in NYC so hopefully he will get some good east coast sales...
-
man you gonna have to wait till the video hits by next monday you should start to have a good feel about the numbers

If Jay-Z was doing a video in the middle of a field with 2 horses having sex behind him, all the little teenie boppers would still buy it up. Videos don't mean shit really. Especially not for a newcomer like Game. If he has 50, Dre, and Em in the video, it won't even matter.
-
5,000 is what he deserves ;D
-
I think game will sell descent his single is getting played on kuybe 93 quiete a bit.i would say 600,000-675,000. :)
-
I think around 200,000 - 300,000.
I won't be one of them.
-
I don't think he's gonna put up any strong numbers but with his connections to G-Unit he would probably go gold but that won't happen until after a year with the help of at least two strong singles.

If it took a year for him to go gold, Dre would drop him so fast, he'd be back in Compton on the block before he knew what happened.

I would have to agree with you Paypuh on that last comment regarding The Game.
He's supposed to be the next big name coming out the West Coast but look at what happened to the last two (In my opinion)
Crooked I = Stranded on Death Row literally , debut album shelved and now doing mix tapes?
Ras Kass= On the run from the law and doing time.
Gerardo= Set Latin Hip Hop back 100 years.
That last one was obviously a joke ;D
-
dont know about first week but overall....2x plat

-
200,000 - 400,000
-

Man, i've realized lately that THis is How we do is gonna be HUGE, everyone is loving that song now, it justs keeps gaining buzz.........once Higher hits, its over. I think Game will sell 300000-500,000 firs week, 2-3 million overall
