Don't Post Anything From No Limit Top Dogg or Last Meal In Your List[/i]
I say three, cause he really didn't have many dope songs during that phase. Don't count anything off of the Top Dogg album, because he had already headed back out West by that time. I'm strictly speaking of what he released in 1998 during that brief period when he was down south.
1. "Hooked"- This song was produced by Soopafly and came out in the Spring of 1997 on the "I Got the Hook Up" soundtrack. This is one of Snoop's best songs he's ever done. It's so fly, the chorus is simple, but he rips it.
2. "Still A G Thang"- Produced by Meach, Meach was so dope, what happened to him? Really, it was kind of funky, I was feelin it, it was his lead single for his album.
3. "Throw Yo Hood Up"- Ya'll can't front, this was Snoop's most gangsta track on No Limit Records. And his illest song that was produced by Beats by the Pound. "Haw What! Haw What! All My Real Gangsta's Throw Your Hood Up!"

good post because there are a lot of hidden gems that Snoop did during his time at No Limit...
my favorite aren't necessarily 'no limit' songs but rather unreleased material he created.
my list
1. No Back Trackin
**vent warning**
To this day, if I hear this song I get a shiver. The song is complete heat, from the beat, to the lyrics, to the hook. The song deals with Snoops rise and fall, he even says in the song "this is the rise and fall of big snoop dogg." Sometimes I wonder how Snoop could make such a great song lyrically and with his flow and then release such unmotivational content. This song is his best song ever
BEST EVER
one more time
This is Snoop's Best song EVER. His content reminds me of something Nas might write. This song was going to be on the last meal. In fact XXL had an article with snoop where he mentioned the song and said it WOULD BE on the last meal, then when the album released it wasn't there. At the end of the song he even says "the reason I call this the last meal is because it's the last time you mutha fuckas are going eat off of me." Just hearing him say it is like whoa, he shows a sincere anger in his voice. The only version we ever heard was from a power 106 premiere. The song was basically a back lash to anyone said he fell off. He brought up a lot issues critics brought up to him. At the time, Snoop was just a rapper...nothing more... and this song proved he still had it. He basically was saying
'whats in the past, stays there, im not going backwards, no more deathrow, no more no limit, it's me, it's on my turn, you say I fell off, well I'm back and this is the story of my rap life, now listen'
I love his verse
Snoop Dogg got soft
Fell off
Isn't that ok?
New Year did come, 1996
I didn't even bother
They say I brought a brick
But I brought the Doggfather!
oh well, one day, hopefully in cdq :(
2. Gangsta Move
Meech's best beat in my mind. At the time he was like Fred Wreck, doing all of snoops gangsta music.
3. Purple
Song featured Lady V and the beat was Awesome, it sampled an old 80's pop song, but snoop re-did it perfectly. Rumors had it that it would appear on Tha Last Meal, but nope, never did... should have though

I actually liked Da Game when it first came out. In fact my first impression of it was waaaaaay better than my impression of Last Meal, Paid the cost, and his most recent peice of trash. Da Game has gotten more play outta me than his last 3 albums and that 213 will get combined.
still a g thang is a great song, and so is the last song on that album. gangsta move off a NL comp is a dope song too.
