these are rumors so far so take them with a grain of salt
EA needs a plan to cut costs from their Nazi-esque deal with the NFL so for right now it's either raise the price of the game to $59.99 or end the deal with Madden which will cut costs on liscensing fees...
it seems like EA's most likely move since the Madden games have been taking more and more crap for have the aging Madden run his mouth for commentary

isnt this like a monopoly, becasue , they will be the carrier, so they can make the game 100$, and people have no fuckin choice, if they wana play a football game
-
not realy because there are other football games out there, this is just the only official one
-
I dont think EA will stop making madden games.
There are millions of people who buy the game each year. I think they'd raise the price anyway, just because now there the only official nfl game. And people will still buy it at $60 bucks because they love playing madden.

they're still going to make NFL games, the problem is... John Madden's Monday Night Football contract is up after this year. If ABC rehires him, everything is good, however rumor is, that ESPN might pick him up. If this is the case, then they can use Madden on their ESPN video games and 'madden' will not be able to be used by EA. They'll have to make a new name.

The thing is, no one will really give a fuck if Maddens fag ass isn't in it, its just the name
-
exactly, now that EA is the only one with the ability to use NFL players names and likenesses, madden doesn't even matter.... they could call it Pauly Shore NFL 2005 and it would still sell
-
Talk about greed. Raising the cost= pooping on all the fans/gamers

EA is a company, and their first responsibility is to make money.
It really sucks for gamers, but from a business perspective, its genius. They pretty much have a grip on an entire genre. It'd be like them buying the rights to RPG games and telling everybody else to fuck off.
If this Madden shit happens, I think Sega is gonna be up a creek. If not, I'd be willing to bet that they work out some sort of deal with EA to publish the NFL2KX games through EA.

*goes on a mission to blow up the EA building near his house*

There is no way that EA can stop making Madden games... god damn the NFL all about the money and not about the fans...
