Title: Aftermath & Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit Releases
Post by: _That_Cracka_J on December 20, 2004, 02:48:07 PM
Obviously everyone has noticed that if somebody is signed to Aftermath Records, they are not going to release an album (Rakim, Hittman, Eve (the first time))....I've heard that this mainly has to do with Jimmy Iovine and not Dre.  Maybe that's why artists are being signed under Shady and G-Unit....doesn't that still go through interscope though?  I have wondered from the beginning why The Game was signed to G-Unit and not Aftermath exclusively.  I understand this is the way to get an album released, but why?  It's not really being released on "Aftermath".

I will bet you that Busta Rhymes and Eve never drops......the only way either of those albums will drop, is if it's a joint effort with another company.  I guarantee.

yeah that cracka j is on point. most artist who sign to Aftermath end up gettin shelfed (Rakim). and artist who sign to Shady dont sell that much (Obie Trice). thats why the artist they see as money makers get sub-labled like 50, Stat Quo, and Game. Game was silent for a cool minute till that G-Unit/Aftermath deal kicked in.

True, but I don't think Stat can move units the way The Game will. Stat will be like... the next Obie. That whole Shady Records label is garbage anyway if you ask me.

Yeah, a big year. Buck behind bars, Eminem dropping garbage, nothing heard from the Stat in a while, same goes for the newer G-Unit cats. The lull before the storm? I don't know, don't think so. They just need Game, 50 and Dre to blow up again, which is pretty likely anyway.

They like saying "2005" when the actual release dates are more specific (for example, Green Lantern coming in MARCH). Happens all the time at aftermathmusic.com

wasn't D-Tay kicked off G-Unit for gettin his chain snatched?  I thought I heard 50 say that recently.

also, Busta's album was originally supposed to drop in September, but was obviously pushed back

50 Cent's new album, St. Valentine's Day Massacre, originally slated for release the day after the dateless masses' least favorite holiday, is now set to drop on March 8. Reason: The Game's "The Documentary"!

PHAROAHE MONCH "tba"

u sure pharoahe monch is on aftermath deicato?
have u had other sources other than that radio interview where he said "he was in the process" of inking, probably with the math.

it's a strange move since most of the rawkus crew moved to geffen.

Glad to hear that...it'll give Game some more space & opportunity to sell more.

It is mostly Iovine who is responsible for all these artists not droppin.  Personally I don't give a fuck if Eve, Busta, Stat and Antonio never drop.  All I want is a good flow of Eminem, 50 and DETOX.

busta and green lantern are very likely to drop in 2005, one day there will be a dre record, eve might as well drop and same goes for stat quo. i don't expect anything from obie and yayo yet, but it looks like it'll be more than 2 records getting released of that list you mentioned.
