^ don't say that..

you'll get the groupies wet.

It'll be just another greatest hits.. hell it may have the same tracklist as the "greatest hits vol 2" that came out on Death Row UK a while back.

havent been about to find a tracklist for this one yet

Why do they waste so much time putting out these bullshit albums instead of releasing NEW artists like Crooked I, Kurupt, Eastwood, etc.... ???

a labels reputation is based upon the artists it breaks.

death row are holding back from dropping something new until they know its a surefire hit.

True, the label's rep is based on the artists, but I think that Death Row is damaging their rep by releasing "Greatest Hits" and "Live" CD's from artists that were establshed and recorded the shit 92-96.  I think they'd be better off releasing even a sub-par artist instead of releasing these BS projects.

death row will never have another hit, suge has been blackballed from the industry

they got a full plate of releases for this year....Kurupt's dropping late spring, Eastwood in the summer, then Petey Pablo's cd (Jive/Death Row) coming 3rd quarter.  Not to mention a new Roscoe cd coming in the summer and a YA cd sometime in 2005

I don't believe it at all.  Here's what Death Row's roster will REALLY be for this year:

Winter 05 - Greatest Hits
April 05 - Snoop Dogg Live
July 05 - 2Pac Greatest Hits part 2
September 05 - Death Row Greatest Hits of 1996
November 05 - Dr. Dre Greatest Hits

I'd take a greatest hits with a couple of unreleased Dre tracks over any of the new stuff they have!

but it'll probably be Snoop tracks that's already on the net or some shit like that...

The Roscoe and YA albums aren't being dropped on Tha Row, they are going to be released on Kustapo or Roscoe's label.  Petey Pablo's album is a definite (unless he severs business ties with Suge) because Jive is involved and they are generally on point with release dates.

As for Kurupt and Eastwood, I was told this by a former Manager of the RAM Squad (a group out of Philly) who knows Kurupt.  Dunno how accurate his info is

Generally indeed. His last album was delayed for 2 years!

Yeah, i know it aint the real Death Row located in Cali who released them, but even if you cut them, it's still a lot of Greatest Hits. I know Death Row can do nothing but release compilations and wait for better days, now.. And i know Suge's getting millions even with old releases, so he can wait, but still.. i'm a lil bit pissed off! It's funny, you know. P.S. About the Greatest Hits instrumental, i've seen it on mirc, but i dont know if it was officially released or not. Not that i was interested anyway.

fans/past fans would probably take death row a bit more seriously if they just put a damn album out that isnt from one of their past artists. they are probably scared over there of droppin an album that isnt an instant hit

how can a person release deathrow cds without permission from suge/deathrow? suge made a deal with ron winters, so ron winters released all those disc legal. he had the rights to release the old catalogue. didnt he? what the deal? lol
Title: Re: Death Row really putting out another "Greatest Hits"???
Post by: acbaylove on January 10, 2005, 05:03:44 AM
^ Exactly. Suge made a deal with that dude, but now he's denying it. I mean if they're legally selling them cd's, then they have authorizations to do it, dont they?

The only thing we can say for sure is that Suge is still getting millions with old releases/Greatest Hits, and that he's getting millions from DR UK too. Maybe not as much as he wanted, but still.. he's getting paid. That's probably the main reason why he aint ruining Death Row's career by releasing an album he doesnt consider a "classic" like all the previous ones. He doesnt really have to ruine the legacy now. He can wait. Cause he's still getting paid. You agree?

^ you've put a rose tinted twist on things.

he cant afford to put out a sub-standard artist. full stop. or his reputation as a hit making exec is gone.. so he gotta sit till he's got a sure thing to put him back in the game.

Yeah, it's the two things combined, imo. I mean, Death Row will be dead and gone the day they'll keep releasing albums like the ones supposed to drop from Tha Realest, Eastwood, NINA, YGD, Kurupt (or to say it better... the artist once known as Kurupt), just to try to back in the game. That's the day i'll declare Death Row dead. Since they aint releasing shit, they aint dead yet. They're just "sleeping". And imo they're doing it cause they can.
