Hey guys, first post here...something interesting I just discovered in the Encore booklet. In all but one of the 8 Dre-produced tracks, the name "C. Pope" is included in the credits, for example --- Evil Deeds ( M. Mathers, A. Young, M. Elizondo, M. Batson, C. Pope )...Mark Batson, Dre's new keyboard player, is credited for the same 7 songs, as he played keyboards on them, but the question is who's "C. Pope"? On "Never Enough", Batson didn't play keys, only Mike Elizondo did, so neither Batson or C. Pope is credited. I know Dre mentioned him in his acceptance speech at the Vibe Awards, when he thanked his musicians towards the end. Though he refered to him as "J. Pope" then. What's really interesting is that the dude has the same publishing as Mel-Man did when he was working with Dre a while back. If you look at the credits on "2001", Mel-Man's publishing is "Hard Workin' Black Folks ( ASCAP )", same as C. Pope on Encore. I heard months ago that Mel was back at Aftermath, could this be confirmation?

yea i have been hearing for a year now that mel man is back on aftermath but i havent heard shit about it other than that. he hasnt been in the credits. so thats possibly him.

I thought Mel-Man was "M.Bradford"

mel recently did a song with game too, at the beginning of the song game is sayin. "Yo Mel, they tried to kill me out there man, 5 shots and im still here nigga"
-
thanks for clearing that up. As far as Mel Man working with the 'Math again, I think it should only be a matter of time, unless he gets pushed to the backburner again.
-
The Game song is called im a soldier
-
why did mel leave in the first place, he's dope as shit, peace.

I think he had a falling out with Dre sometime during 2002-2003. He appeared in the Source Magazine article that bashed Dre and Aftermath last year, and there was word that he was starting up his own label with former Aftermath associates.
