That's right, ya boy's going to the army. The government will feed me, house me and clothe me starting January 10th.
It ain't like I'm the type to join up as a voulanteer though - we got general conscription here, in case you didn't know. I'm hoping I'll get away with 6 moths, but it could take a whole year. That isn't likely for me (I don't wanna go to officer's training or anything), but shit happens, you know?
Fucked up thing about it is that I won't be able to buy Game's album when it comes out. I'm kinda pissed off about that, been waiting for that shit to drop for a while now. But hey, what'cha gonna do. Dunno when our first leave is gonna be, it's gonna be a couple of weeks for sure though. 3 or 4 at least, maybe more.
I couldn't care less about going. It ain't nothing but a waste of my time. I could be working that time, saving up some money, studying up for university entry tests, you know? But guess not.
Not like I post too much these days anyway, but now you know why I won't be saying shit for a while, starting January 10th.

you can bump a burned copy since the album will leak within maybe even hours from now ;)

Rampant: I didn't join, I said we have general conscription. That means that all men (excluding those with a disability or a serious illness) must go to the army and serve 6, 9 or 12 months depending on what kind of soldier you want to be trained to be and wether or not you want to got into officers training. Women can join at the same age if they wish, but armed service for females is voluntary.
tuker0: I'm 19, turning 20 on the 12th. In Finland you go to the army when you're 18 oto 20 years old, depending on your birthday and wether you start in the summer or in the winter. You can also postpone it, but you gotta go at 28 years of age at the latest.
You could also do civil service for a year instead of going to the army, which means getting some menial job at a government run facility (e.g. a school) as a cleaner or something like that. But that option is for pussies and most often those jobs suck more than the army.
Mauzip: I never ever download full albums. I only slipped from my rule once, because the record I wanted was out of print and my record dealer couldn't locate a copy for me in any of the wholesalers.

Damn, that's fucked up.
You know, it still amazes me that things like that are still allowed in the world...they just force you to go to the army. That's basically dictatorship if you look at it...
Aren't you allowed to listen to music while in the army?

Of course man! ;D Haha, it ain't like that! It's just that I won't be able to go to the record store for a while with the training going on and shit. It'll be a couple weeks before they let us outta there for the weekends.

See, I get all those same benefits by attending college, but without risking my life for a government that goes out on $$$ missions.

Jamal dude, Finland isn't at war with anybody. I won't be leaving the country. It's only combat training, no real combat. It's like an inevitable evil that all the guys my age in Finland have to go through. Some like it, the rest (like me) think it's just a waste of time. But I still gotta do it.

Sounds good. I was considering joining the army at one time for training but I can't because I'm flat-footed and have a bad back.

Should have spent more time on your studies.

This topic really shows how well some folks read the first post. Some folks read that I'm "going to the army" and immediately suppose I'm gonna get shipped to Iraq. If they'd really read what I said right in my first post they'd know that I'm not American, I'm NOT joining the U.S. army, I'm NOT voulanteering, it's mandatory in my country and I'm NOT gonna get into a combat situation.
Shit I'm clowning when I say this but, learn to read people!
