Title: Rating Game Tracks 4 Documentary
Post by: kenny23 on January 09, 2005, 02:10:53 PM
I will rate these out of 10 let me know what you think

01. Intro (Produced By Dr. Dre & Che Vicious)
Game doesn't even say anything, cool beet though
02. Westside Story (Feat. 50 Cent) (Produced By Dr. Dre & Scott Storch)
Bangin' beat, lyrics are better than most of the other songs before they got repeated  8/10
03. Dreams (Produced By Kanye West)
Fucked up beat, if I wanted to hear someone groan in the backround I would go hang out at a hospital!! Lyrics are stupid Dre's 2001 didn't come out in 2001, because it was supposed to be called 2000 until Death Row stole his title. Kanye West is over rated 4/10
04. Hate It Or Love It (Feat. 50 Cent) (Produced By Cool & Dre)
Cool Ass beat, pretty good lyrics except Game's references to Air Force 1's. Lyrically 50 gets a 10/10 Game get's a 7/10. Overall good song  8.5/10
05. Higher (Produced By Dr. Dre & Mark Batson)
Best song on the album period, Game's lyrics are not only good their funny too (reference to Mariah & Tyra) Best beat too. 11/10
06. How We Do (Feat. 50 Cent) (Produced By Dr. Dre & Mike Elizondo)
Pretty good all around, I found it can get annoying after listening to it for a while.  7.5/10
07. Don't Need Your Love (Feat. Faith Evans) (Produced By Havoc)
I hate this song it's annoying and i can't stand Faith Evans whining on the chorus. Production sucks. I would take Dreams over this song.  2/10
08. Church For Thugs (Produced By Just Blaze)
Cool Ass song. Just Blaze has got some heat. Not bad lyrically but not great.  7/10
09. Put You On The Game (Produced By Timbaland)
Another cool beat but lyrically....  6.5/10
10. Start From Scratch (Feat. Marsha Of Floetry) (Produced By Dr. Dre & Scott Storch)
Slower but still bangin'. His sqeaky voice sounds like J-Kwon's song You And Me but good.  8.5/10
11. The Documentary (Produced By Jeff Bhasker)
Cool but short. 8/10
12. Runnin' (Feat. Tony Yayo) (Produced By Hi-Tek)
This song sucks. it seems like Game either makes a really good song or it all goes in the shitter...this one went in the shitter...2.5/10
13. No More Fun And Games (Produced By Just Blaze)
Just Blaze hot again...lyrically same shit..not so good  6.5/10
14. We Ain't (Feat. Eminem) (Produced By Eminem)
Em is turning into a great producer, this one is sure to get your blood flowing  9/10
15. Where I'm From (Feat. Nate Dogg) (Produced By Focus)
This one's mellow but funkier than James Brown. I like Nate on this one. Lyrically if Game would have shown up this would have been a perfect track.  7.5/10
16. Special (Feat. Nate Dogg) (Produced By Needlz)
Funny starting with a cameo from Dre. Good beat. Nate's the shit but again Game was sleepin on the lyrics  7/10
17. Don't Worry (Feat. Mary J. Blige) (Produced By Dr. Dre &
Mike Elizondo) Even with Dre on the beat this song went in the shitter. Too slow too much Mary J, she's cool but this isn't a Mary J album  4/10
18. Like Father, Like Son (Feat. Busta Rhymes) (Produced By
Buckwild) This one is the only one that doesn't suck but it's not good either, I'm neatral on this one  5/10

Overall there was some definate heat on this album but there was also alot of rookie mistakes. I guess we will have to wait for the sophmore album to see if Game is all that or average at best. Overall  7/10

if you don't agree the least you could do is have the balls to write why you don't agree

i cant say i agree with that review

IMO Dreams is one of the dopest songs on the album, cant stop bumpin it 9,5/10 + "Where I m from" is def worth a 9/10, maybe 9,5.

ok.

first, dreams is not a 4/10. the beat wasnt bad in my opinion, its actually one of kanyes better beats in a while. and that hospital comment was just straight up odd.

i dont think 50 deserves a 10/10 on Hate It Or Love it. His verse is very overrated. if he didnt drop that "my favorite rapper used to say check check out my melody" line no one would like it as much.

Higher isn't that good. more like an 8.5 to me.

Don't Need Your Love is arguably the best track on their. but you gave it a 2/10. Havoc's beat is one of his better beats in the last 5 years. the whole vibe was dope and i definitely believe the lyrics were deeper than some peopel give credit to game for on there.

I'd also give Church For Thugs a 9 or 9.5, everything bout the song is dope, especially games last verse. some nice punches here.

ill agree lyrically put you on the game isnt great,, but it works for a club joint. you could tell they cater the vibe/lyrics of this one to a first single which they changed to higher then later how we do.

J-Kwon? lol. i loved start from scratch, id give it a 10. best song on the album.

the documentary (the song) isnt short and id give it a higher rating.

runnin isnt that bad. but it did get played out real quick both the beat and lyrics. i think its one of the weaker songs on the album now.

No More Fun And Games was the best display of games lyrical skill on the album. this song gets unfair hate. jsut blaze dropped a real funky beat and game has some really memorable lines. the last verse is real dope with the time theme.

Special was good, game gave it a good vibe that worked well.

Don't Worry grew on me real quick. the beat is real throwback from dre/elizondo. i like the second verse, nice flow and a good song to chill to.

Like Father Like Son is a good song. games flow is weak, but the lyrics arent. busta drops a very dope hook.

First off if you like Dreams that's cool, most people like Kanye, I don't and that's also cool. But you don't have to say the hospital comment was odd. Obviously you need to listen to the song again if you don't remember the person groaning in the backround. That's what you hear at hospitals people groaning in the backround :loco:

So for hate it or love it you think the only reason people like 50 is because he drop a verse saying "my favorite rapper usta say check check out my melody"? I guess it had nothing to do with the fact he drops one of his sing song choruses that have made him famous??? And what does Game have again...Oh that's right he mentions Air Force 1's again (talking about Young Buck scuffing them in Cashville) not only is he obsessed with those damn shoes he feels he has to do shout outs in every damn song. Game must figure let's not blow myself up let's make other rapper's look good. Believe me that's not altruistic that's dicc ridin'.

Higher fuckin' funny and bangin' at least Game doesn't talk about Air Force 1's. If you don't like it that's cool.

Maybe your right on don't need your love, but it's not the best, i guess i'm not really down with mobb deep.

I said Church 4 Thugs was good Just Blaze has got some heat, He raps about fuckin' shoes again this time air Nike's and about Reebok...fuckin' one dimensional

I said start from scratch was dope i gave it 8.5. And you think the J-Kwon comment was funny huh...well why don't you go listen to You and Me by J-Kwon and then listen to verses Game drops in this song like "same Dogg Food album bangin' in my tape deck" if you don't hear the squeaky voice like their going through puberty then i can't help you we have a difference of opinion. But i still said it was dope.

The Documentary (song) is short by my standards it's not even three minutes. Maybe i heard a different version. But i still said it was good i just wished it were longer then i would give it 9.5/10

The reason i said no more fun and games wasn't lyrically inclined is because of all the shout outs to other artists. Why can't he rap about his own life. That's why 2pac was the shit because he was so original with his lyrics. There will never be another 2pac.

Special was good not great though.

So you think that Mary J should have been in don't worry as much as she was?? I don't that's why i gave it the rating i did. Like i said it's not a Mary J album people wanna hear the Game.

i agree game mentions air ones and nikes too much, but youre making it seem like thats the point of some of the songs?

08. Church For Thugs (Produced By Just Blaze)

11. The Documentary (Produced By Jeff Bhasker)
i dont like the skit...y tha fuck does that bitch say 5 dollaz like a crack whore...but the songs coo ...the chorus is catchy with all them classic album namez on there...game comes out actin like his album shound b included with doggystyle all eyez on me etc.....not in my books but hey w/e  8/10

He mentions them so much either he's got nothing better to talk about or shoe company's paid him to mention them so much

Nike paid LeBron $90 000 000 for wearing their shoes and shit.. so I wouldnt doubt Nike giving Game some $crilla for mentioning their products.. often.

How come dre is not capable of producing a song by himself?

There are some good songs on the album but it sounds all mixed up with different styles and shit so i give this shit a
7/10.

You gave all the wack songs decent ratings but songs like Dreams, Runnin', and Don't Need Your Love terrible ratings. But hey, it's opinion.

1. Intro - N/A
2. Westside Story - 9/10 - Definitely a straight up banger. THe beat is bangin, lyrics are gangsta
3. Dreams - 6/10 - the "i woke up from my comma in 2001 right around the time Dre dropped 2001" bring it down to 6. Beat is nice
4. Hate it or Love It - 9/10 - I really liked 50cent's verse, and that's the first time i've ever said that. Beat is great, Game's good on it too
5. Higher - 8/10 - I kinda don't like the lyrics, but the beat is definitely dope. I can't see this one blowing up though, u can't dance to it
6. How We Do - 5/10 - I fuckin HATE the way they rap on this. The beat is pretty good, but gets annoying. Cant believe ya'll like this.
7. Don't Need Your Love - 7.5/10 - Lyrically, not bad, the beat isn't bad. Overall, this song is pretty average
8. Church For Thugs - 8/10 - The beat is nice, although it's a little too East-coast sounding.
9. Put it on The Game - 9/10 - NOw this is a true party track. I think this should be the next single instead of Dreams. Beat is fuckin sick
10. Start from Scratch - 9/10 - Fuckin dope beat by Dre. WIth a dark feel and emotional flow this track deserves 9, maybe 9.5.
11. The Documentary - 9.5/10 - The title track has prolly the best beat, but it sounds too much like Jay's "Meet the parents." nice lyrics
12. Runnin - 8.5/10 - I liked Tony Yayo on this track, the beat is a lil weird but gets the job done in relation to the subject matter.
13. No More Fun and Games - 8.5/10 - Really dope retro beat, the flow is nice, but the lyrics lack in this one.
14. We Ain't - 8.5/10 - The Beat gets monotonous, but Game's eminemesque flow is tight. Em's verse ain't too bad.
15. Where I'm From - 8.5/10 - Laid back gangsta beat, Nate Dogg. Can't go wrong here, but the lyrics prevent it from being a 9 or 9.5
16. Special - 6/10 - Worst beat on the album, and probably the only bad beat, and the subject matter... even nate sucks on the hook
17. Don't Worry - 8/10 - The beat is really fresh, sounds like the females will dig this one. Mary J Blige doin her thang, and Game is aight
18. Like Father Like Son - 9.5/10 - The lyrics are dope, the beat is fuckin sweet, Busta's chorus is really dope. One of the best songs

Overall, i give this album an 8.5/10. Of Course it's nowhere hear "Slim Shady LP", "Illmatic", "The Chronic", "Doggystyle", "2001", "reasonable doubt" which are all classic debuts

great

I think DubCC needs a new fucking rule, NOT to bump old threads (G-Spot not count of course) unless u can actually add something SUBSTANTIALLY NEW (Depending on the topic) if ur caught doing it, then get a ban or a fucking warning or get limited to the G-Spot.
