3. Cube - No Vaseline (No explaination required)
-
Hit 'em up for impact and shit, Yadda Yadda Yadda for track as such, although it's not a west track but I hope that's ok.
-
Its not westcoast but the reply from cypress hill to the king of the hill diss from westside connection is great.
-
to me, Hit Em Up was just a bunch of shit talk...all they did was pretty much just sit there and say how they were going to kill a bunch of people and swear at them
No vaseline exposed what was going on in NWA
even Dollaz and Sense made MC Eight look like a total bitch
i rate those, No Vaseline and Dollas & Sense, over hit em up anyday
-
Hillary Duff - Haters

Dollaz + Sense - Since then, everytime I hear or think of MC Eiht, I automatically think of how he got ripped to pieces on this track. That's why it's the best diss track to me.
Pimp Slapp'd - Just cuz he said it when everyone else wasn't saying shit... they still ain't saying shit.
Dre Day - Best beat on a diss track ever. "Tim M-U-T"
Of course the most famous one - Hit em up.
No Vaseline
But overall, I have to say Dollaz + Sense, because I don't think the target ever fully recovered from it.
-
Hard to choose one, I'ma go with "Dre Day" on this one. One of the few serious diss records that received hella airplay.
-
Hit Em Up has gotta be the most overrated track I've ever heard.Wack beat & wack lyrics=wack song.Drop a Gem ripped Pac apart.
-
It's not the best one but "The Ripper Strikes Back" by LL Cool J is a personal fav.
I think No Vaseline was the best ever tho.
-
officially is hit'em up
personal ATL-diss on dre-don't know the song name
and RealMuthaphuccin G'z
-
Hit Em Up has gotta be the most overrated track I've ever heard.Wack beat & wack lyrics=wack song.Drop a Gem ripped Pac apart.
Only the beat, man. The beat is classic.
-
Thing is Hit Em Up definately is the diss song with the biggest consequences... I think it's just that song which got Pac killed and then Biggie... And in 2005 we're still feeling those losses in the music industry imo.
-
hit em up...

1.) "No Vaseline" (He Shitted On Eazy Hard Even With Small Shyt "I'll Never Have Dinner With The President!" I Mean He Went At Every N.W.A. Member Left Exposed Jerry Heller, I Mean The Shyt Was All True If You Think Back...

4.)"King Of The Hill/ Cross Em Out And Put A "k""- Man This Shyt Was Beatiful IMO Cypress Hill Were Like At The Height Of Their Success, This Song Was Like Damn I Put Away My Hill-billies CD's For Awhile I Mean They Really Mad Them Look Bad I Heard The Little Response But It Was Like The Typical Shyt, I Mean Cube Is And Is Good At Making The Obvious Truth Look Bad...This Track Still Gives Me Gossebumps...Cube This Muh-Fucka Could Bring The West Back If People Still Listened To Music...
"Pimp Slapp'd" The Shock Value Alot Of Industry Folks Talk Shyt But This One Seemed To Walk It A Little More Than The Others...Not That It Was The Hardest Shyt On The Planet...But Snoop Has Dismissed Alot Of Beef With Smaller Artist, So When Suge Came Back Alot Of People Were Like Damn, Its A Dope Song Too! I pretty much agree with everything you said here

-
My favorite is Real Muthafuckin' G'z, but the song with the best actual overall DISS to it, I'd have to say Dollaz & Sense.
-

wow thank you!
"No Vaseline", "Dollaz & Sense" and "Real Muthaphukkin G's" were all good diss songs. "Hit Em Up" is garbage. All Pac said was a bunch of fuck you's and threaten to kill everyone. He'd probably still be alive if he didnt make that track.

5. LL Cool J - To The Break of Dawn - Three of raps biggest names in the late 80's, early 90's, all lined up in a row, and blasted in one song. Kool Moe Dee was never the same after this song and Ice Cube sampled the "No Vaseline" from a line to Moe Dee, The classic line to Hammer "you couldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight" well dissing his dancing, Ice T was exposed when LL claimed to have done his wife and talked shit on his car theif past. It was like the end of a Godfather movie, when Michael would settle all his problems in one swift action.
4. Nas - Ether - You guys know the past, you know the battle, and you know this song called out Jay-Z on so many levels. It took this diss to bring down the biggest name in rap at the time. Calling Jay-Z a Biggie dick sucker was the right move, and then saying how Jay said he was better than big pulled out Jigga'z card quick and gave Nas bragging rights to the city of New York.
3. Ice Cube - No Vasaline - The world's most dangerous group could only get crushed by one person, their most important member. In something out of wrestling when a member of a large group would leave to take out everyone in that group, and crush the leader in a main event, Ice Cube killed N.W.A. Telling Dre to stick to producing, then dismissing Yella as nothing and talking about how Eazy is fucking over Ren and Dre left Cube with only Eazy left. And Eazy is no match for Ice Cube without Dre and Ren, and by the time Cube gets to Eazy, you basically have the feeling E is alone. Classic diss song.
2. Boogie Down Production - The Bridge Is Ova - Again, a straight up one man wrecking machine on a crew. This time it's KRS-One getting at the whole Juice Crew. At first he was only dissing MC Shan, but in this song his dissing everyone from Roxanna Shante to Marly Mar to Magic and of course MC Shan. In an attack never seen at the time, KRS-One basically crushed a crew by himself. One of the greatest diss songs ever, and will live in hip-hop etenaty.
1. 2Pac - Hit Em Up - Will mainly be remembered for his fuck you rage at the end and his boosting about Biggie, but 'Pac lyrically fucked the shit outta Biggie, and the Outlawz just went on a lyrical killing spree. No diss song has ever matched the intensity, energy and rage of this song. Plus the lyrical skillz and straight honesty of this song puts it's unmatch. Edi's line, "softer than Alize with a chaser"... lmao, this is in the middle of energy and rage. This song is unmatched. I never felt bad for the person getting dissed when I've heard a diss song, well after hearing this song for the first time in 1996, I felt bad for Biggie. I got the CD just to get California Love radio version, and what I got I was blown away.
-
i don't see why people like Hit Em Up.... it was the equivilent of a temper tantrum....it was all shit talk taht none of it happened (except maybe the first 7 words) and it ended up getting costing people their lives...
right now, if i were to get in everyone that liked "hit em up" faces, and talked all this shit about how i was going to kill them and yelled out fuck you's and all that.... then got my ass whooped....would you give me props?
afraid not, shit doesn't make sense
-
Real muthafuckin G'z is my personal fav
and stop all the hating on Hit em up...its a classic diss record....even puffy admitted to liking it on an interview he's like there was no denying that it was a hot track. lol
-
I still roll with no vaseline but I gotta say that callin out names and either were so vicious and slick that the first time I heard them it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.....
pimp slapped does deserve honorable mentions....
-
Hit em up....
-
Real Muthaphuckkin G's is my favorite but there is no competition to No Vaseline. No one wanted to get into a tussle with Cube after that shit until Common dropped him.
-
Hit em up was wack, there have been countless diss songs that are far better than hit em up. People say that Pac lyrically murdered Biggie, if Biggie would have responded he would have ended Pac's career with a verse, Pac was emotion in his songs and didn't come off as lyrical with only a few exceptions. Big was at his prime and would have desimated Pac. No vaseline, Dre day, who is fucking who, take over, ether, dollaz and sense those are classic diss songs
-
dollaz and sense from DJ QUIK
ether by NAS
-
1.bitch in yoo
2.real muthafuckin g's
3.the bridge is over
-
1. the bitch in yoo- common - ice cube ass aint been right since that got dropped..good and ass lyrical cube as was then.. smh..
2. dollaz and sense- why.. becuz at that source awards back in the gap..i think quik was standin right were mc eiht was sittin... kuz he wasnt pacin the stage or nuthin he never left that lil area..and he jus shitted on eiht in front of everybody that was suppose to be somebody in rap at that time
3. what would u do- eazy e- that was betta than real motherphukkin g'z imo..he tripped me out when he was talkin while chantin murder was the case that they gave me..
4. too short- get in where u fit in...short was goin raw..
-
Dollaz + Sense - Since then, everytime I hear or think of MC Eiht, I automatically think of how he got ripped to pieces on this track. That's why it's the best diss track to me.
But overall, I have to say Dollaz + Sense, because I don't think the target ever fully recovered from it.
-
the best disssongs to me gotta be 2pac's hit em up",ice cube's no vaseline and dj quik's dollaz and sense....those songs really fucked up those dudes who got dissed...even i was stunned ...mc eiht tryied ta diss quik back but failed while the others didnt respond...
-
hit em up wasnt the best diss track, it was the most venomous "real" hate song made but not the best. I personally like Dollaz & Sense and No Vasaline was crazy. Ether reserectred Nas' career in my book
-
I have to say Dollaz & Sense. Its the most clever diss song ever
Hit um Up had the most impact...but all pac and the outlaws were saying is fuck you to everybody and im kill you.
