The first Eastsidaz album, a westcoast classic. Featured a handfull of dope westcoast artists all together on one bangin ass album. We heard Tray Dee through-out a whole album, basically got introduced to Goldie Loc and even got some dope and meanigful verses from Snoop. "Snoop Dogg Presents..." featured Kokane, Kurupt, Warren G, Xzibit, Butch Cassidy, Rappin 4 tay, Bad Azz, Kam, Nate Dogg, Suga Free, Jayo Felony & more! We even had Dr. Dre to introduce the album! Now thats the kind of album the westcoast needs right now. The vibe on the west must have been so dope during this period. I cant even imagine all these artists getting together for anything these days. This album represented everything the westcoast was about, from the artists, to the beats and rhymes. Its ashame some of my favorite artsits dont make music like this anymore. Its quite evident that they really put effort into the music they were making, where now you have Snoop, Xzibit, sometimes Nate and even Dre making music totally for pop charts and money. At one point I would expect them to realize that they have certain fans who hold expectations for them to make dope music like the albums we got introduced to. But then, I think to myself, "I wonder what it would be like to have millions of dollars....and everything that comes with that"....I really do wonder.
This is somewhat of a "Snoop Dogg Presents: Tha Eastsidaz" appreciation thread.
What do you guys think of the album? Do you think there is a chance of these artists all working together again?
Peace

I remember when I got that album, we used to play it at house parties all the time, and nobody would change it.

That was definitely a great album. The production, the lyrics, the guests, all awesome.

exactly...couldnt've been done any better

[controversy]I think the 213 album is as good as the first Eastsidaz album. It's got the same feel throughout the album. Only without the features.[/controversy]

From 1999 - 2001, there was so much good west coast hip hop coming out during that period that I thought there was going to be a resurgence on the west coast but it didn't last, but I enjoyed it while it was here. I see this album, and the Deuces and Trays album, which I think is better than the first one, as part of it. I think Kurupt's Streetz is a Mutha was the one that set it off for me at least, then chronic 2001, then Tash's rap life, then Balance and Options, the Konnektid Project, Mausberg's LP, Xzibit's Restless then Deuces and Trays.
That is just a ton of great west coast music right there.

see thats the kind of teamwork the West need right now. if these old bastards would stop tryna hog the spotlight and try bringin some new artist & helpin them come up - we'd be good.
the album is bangin tho, I still slump it on the regular. man that camp was hella tight too bad none of em really fuck with each other now days. Snoop, Eastsidaz, Kurupt, Suga Free, Bad Azz, Jayo, etc all on one album workin together :o

Damn....this album is one of my favourites....I first heard Tha Eastsidaz in Lay Low and after that I bought this.....

Heeell yeah...I definitely thought we were comin back then. Bad Azz came out, Quik had his album, Kurupt Space boogie dropped, DPG album dropped, that death row DPG 2002 project dropped and had crooked i on radio, doggys angels had an album that had GREAT production, last meal came out and that was Snoop's 2nd best to me, then The Wash came and had two classic songs on it....cot damn, that shit still pisses me off that we didn't make a comeback in 2001. We had so much heat that nobody outside the west coast fans even knew about.

^dont forget Xzibit, Ice Cube, and Warren G all dropped albums. and the "Up in Smoke Tour". and the NWA reunion songs. I dont know how we fail so quick but that was a nice lil run we had, like a West Coat revival.

Does anyone remember they "Smokefest 2" movie ? During the end credits they had a preview for Tha Eastsidaz album and movie followed by a low budget video for "Now we lay em Down".......
That shit was dope. Really made me anticipate the album.
-
Most of the albums i buy in the store. But sometimes im just to fuckin lazy to go out and search for albums. But i support the west as much as i can.
-
Classic album to me, great production from Battlecat,Goldie loc and others......Features couldn't have been better and its just an overall solid album...G'd Up even did alrite in the UK surprisingly, I remember it being played on MTV Base over here several times in the day.
-
both Eastsidaz albums are straight classic IMO, west coast shyt at its finest, it was a good year, "Restless","Streetz Iz A Mutha", those albums are crazy!!!
