Title: Pimp My Ride is the worst thing that happen to Xzibit
Post by: King Of L.A. on January 22, 2005, 01:18:13 PM
that show officially ruined his music career. Its sad that he can't move pass 200,000. his music is never on the radio anymore.

with his face being on MTV 24/7 you'd think he'd move some serious units but nope, People look at him like a white washed corny rapper now cuz of the show.

WMD is a good album and it's better than his last album so the show didn't hurt his music as far as I'm concerned.

X kept it westcoast, he had busta & hitek but unforutanatley having names like battlecat/sir jinx/steady gang/suga free is just not gonna sell.....he needed nate or snoop

but on the other hand, the music was quality and meaningful...........i cant believe game said xzibit was the wackest artists he ever worked with get real my nigga......
that means 50, young buck, spider loc, the relativez & jt the bigga figga are better than xzibit???

You think Game would be showing another West Coast artist some love.

The West will never blow if people act like that  :(

Maybe it was the worst thing to happen for fans of X to the Z but not X himself.

Hes all over Tv, hes doing shows left right and center and hes also doing his music.  Basically hes still getting paid but hes getting paid though many different aspects of being a celeb.  His new album aint done that well but thats because the album itself wasnt that good.  If the album was fire then it would of sold loads.  Simple as.

^^ I agree. Xzibit's last record was great in some aspects, he had some meaningful tracks...but there wasn't any material that has the potential to blow up big. "Hey Now" was decent at best, but come on...it came off a bit lazy in my opinion. He didn't want to rely on Dre and Em, and while that's very respectable...it cost him. Restless hit damn near 2x plat and Mvs.M went gold.

I think Pimp My Ride allowed for Xzibit to put out a record on his own. In 2000, with Restless, he was hungry, trying to get paid and his only source at the time was music. Now that he has a second way of making money, Xzibit can put out a Weapons of Mass Distruction, a CD I thought was a solid 4/5, and I enjoyed greatly. I mean, it has meanful tracks, and he was able to make an album on his own, and try to show off Strong Arm Steady. His trying to build himself as his own man, rather than being a Dre puppet. And well Xzibit fans maybe sad about this, I as a fan of him since Papparazi was on Power 106 and Speed of Light dropped, I would rather see Xzibit doing his thing with westcoast people and putting on good eastcoast artists like Busta Rhymes, than seeing Xzibit pimp himself by putting Nate Dogg and Dre and Eminem everywhere to sell. As a man, you want to do things on your own, and Xzibit has that freedom. His pimping rides, and that's great as long as his career is not pimped.

Pimp My Ride is the worst thing to happen to society in general, not just Xzibit.

Xzibit has gotten worse with albums since Restless.....the only track I like off of WMD is "Ride or Die"

i think that the reason his album didnt sell well was because of
a.the lack of promotion from his record company
b.not having eminem, dre or snoop on his record or anything else
c.may have lost some of his hip-hop fan base ....every album he dropped since restless showed lower record sells and 2 years have passed since his last record dropped and shit can change for artists after 2 years
