Hip-hop star SNOOP DOGG is planning to take a month-long trip to Africa, in an effort to "find out" who he is.

The BEAUTIFUL rapper has decided it's time to embark on a journey of self-discovery on the continent - and he plans to film his findings.

He says, "I'm going to Africa to shoot a movie called BACK TO THE MOTHERLAND. I'm a take a couple of band members of mine down there and I'm a stay down there for 30 days and try to come up with some music and come up with some background on who I am and where I come from, 'cause I don't understand me.

"I don't know who I am, and I think that going back to the motherland, where it all began, is gonna help me find out who I am."
