Yep, he's often disrespected or overlooked by hiphop heads because of his mainstream success with Gangsta's paradise, but he's dope. "El cool magnifico" was terrible, tho.

gangstas paradise was dope

Coolio, a sign back in the early 90's that westcoast rap was huge, because he was outside the Death Row circle going platnum by himself.
Last I heard about Coolio, he released his 4th album, after the album with Sumthin' New (1,2,3,4) and when that flopped, he went on to release his 5th album. His words were, I'm putting this album out to see if people are still feeling me. If this album does well, that's cool, if it doesn't then I know my time is over. Well it flopped and he took it as a sign his time is over and his on to other things it seems. I always liked Coolio. I think his a very important part of the westcoast in the early 90's, as people like him, Pharcyde, The Liks, Digital Underground and all the rest prove that the westcoast was large in the early 90's and it wasn't just a Death Row thing. One hit wonders like Skee-Lo and Ahmad also strength the coast. Now if you excuse me I am going to bump my favorite Coolio track, "Can o Corn"

I got My Soul (classic!), It Takes A Thief (classic) & Gangsta's Paradise (solid...actually got two copys of this one)... I also had some 40 Thevz shit on my comp... Coolio is mad slept on, he had a nice flow, lyrics weren't exactly Rakim, but it's entertainment. And production was always on point!

Incase some of y'all (prolly most) didn't know he actually performed a gig in a Scottish university in like November/December last year.
He certainly has dropped from stardom just a touch.

I first started feeling Coolio when he first came out with WC and the MAAD Circle back in '91.
His first three albums was on point production wise and lyrically, he could hold his own. After that, he slowly started falling off the map.
True hip hop heads can't deny him his contribution to west coast hip hop in the 90's.

Coolio gotta stay of that f88ken crack !! Fo Real , he made it big in the 90's ...
