R&B singer Houston gouged out his eye after an apparent suicide attempt at a London hotel, sources close to the singer said.
The Los Angeles native, who scored a hit last year with the Chingy and Nate Dogg-featured "I Like That" (see "Houston Scores Club Hit With Help From Chingy, Nate Dogg"), was overseas for a series of performances when the incident occurred. According to sources close to the artist, he first attempted to jump out of a hotel window but was stopped by his security personnel. He was then locked in his hotel room, where he injured himself.
There are currently no further details on the incident. Representatives for Houston's label, Capitol Records, could not be reached for comment.

Just looking at that picture makes my eye hurt. What's funny, not that it's funny, is that in RnB it's a career killer. I can't think of anything that either of them did that was very public and not part of their image. Madonna was a bit of a rebel, but never looked at as a complete psycho. What did Mike do that was so bad? He's been accused of a lot of things and known as little eccentric(okay, very eccentric), but most of his fans look at it sympathetically. With Ozzy there was no sympathy. You either loved him or feared him to death.
But just to make my point stronger, forget Mike and Madonna because you're right to say they're weird. Imagine Britney Spears, Timberlake, or Usher biting a doves head off. LOL. All their fans would run for the hills.

On Thursday Houston attempted to jump out of a 13th-floor hotel window but was stopped by his security personnel, sources close t
the singer said. He was moved to a lower floor and locked in his room, where he injured himself. Additional details are still coming to light, and photographs of his injury are circulating online.
The Los Angeles native, born Houston Summers IV, was overseas for a series of performances when the incident occurred. He scored a hit last year with "I Like That," which featured Chingy and Nate Dogg and was used in a McDonald's commercial (see "Houston Scores Club Hit With Help From Chingy, Nate Dogg"). His debut album, It's Already Written, was certified gold a month after its release in August.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Houston during this tragic time," a Capitol Records spokesperson said.
Los Angeles radio station KKBT-FM's K-Sly, who appeared in the "I Like That" video and is close to Houston's camp, said the singer had been under psychiatric care last year for manic depression. Another source corroborated that claim, adding that Houston had also struggled with PCP.
"I was told he wanted to commit suicide and stabbed his eye out," K-Sly said. "He was telling people he was Jesus and wanted to go home to his Father."
The singer is now back in Los Angeles.

the story on mtv news is that he was not on pcp (thats a rumor) and that he was having a "spiritual attack"....now many of you may laugh at that but that kind of stuff really does happen....my roommate flipped out a few months ago in his sleep because of that...thats the story that houston and his bodygaurd are sticking with.....they said something like he said he feels much better after doing so and he has no regrets at all...sounds wierd but it makes some sense....i didn't know that he was raised christian....his entire family is christian...he's christian and supposedly was not ever really around things like drugs and stuff and he was having this attack because of the fact that now he's around drugs and violence and crap like that....

If he is a true christian and reads the bible then he would know a verse in the bible says something like "If your hand forces you to sin, you should cut it off, so your hand goes to hell and not you, if your eye forces you to sin, you shall gouge it out so your whole body is not a sinner" this may not be the exact quote but i read the bible regularly and im 100% sure i have crossed that quote and it is in the bible so if he reads it maybe he was influenced by that quote.
